Wilson or Plame to apologize or offer assistance of any sort. A GS-14 (very high ranking) government worker lost her job from either spite or carelessness and yet no offer of sympathy from any Republican official. Compassion is just not a word that should be associated with the GOP... It just doesn't exist..

2. An offer of assistance is not an admission of guilt

A GS-14 rating means that person has been there for a long time and now they aren't, for whatever reason, You would think someone would have some sympathy....Republicans just don't seem to care...

3. "Compassionate Conservatism" is just a catch phrase

Much like Support the Troops (who don't get adequate body armor, medical care or anything else), Family Values (they have an excruciatingly narrow definition of "family"), Morality (which is confined to what you do with your genitals) and so on.
