GOPer Who Served Nixon,Ford,Bush Sr Rips into Bush Jr - Bush History,10/31
Brent Scowcroft, a GOPer who served Nixon, Ford, and Bush Sr. rips into the decisions of Bush Jr. Of Iraq Scowcroft says: "there's a fair chance we'll win, but look at the cost" adding, Bush's decision "feeds terrorism". Telling comments from Bush Sr. (Scowcroft told me "what I need to know and not just what I want to hear") explain why the 1st Bush far exceeds the son, and why the son never asked for Scowcroft's advice.

1. g.w. bush ignored Scowcroft's misgivings about everything they were doing...
from the war, to diplomacy, war planning, the whole nine. The bush admin had no intention of listening to any reasonable minds. And now the world is bleeding out. Nice work, george, another business invested with the savings of others driven hell-bent straight off the cliff and into the ground

3. The tragedy of it all
We think we want presidents who are steadfast and sure of themselves. These qualities were the Bush administration's downfall. Bush was so sure of himself, what God was telling him to do, he just charged ahead. He didn't want to hear what others had to say. You could imagine his father, in tough situations, asking people with varied views "what's the best oourse?" You think of JFK in the Cuban Missle crisis, with a group of advisors giving him lots of different opinions 'til he went with what his judgement told him was the best course. Then there is George, Blunder Ahead, Bush. Tragic.

4. Yes, there are honorable Republicans
My hats off to all those Republicans who have come forward to acknowledge the disaster that is Bush, and the disaster that would be a VP Palin. Really, how many of us would do the same were we faced with an incompetent Democratic president? I have great admiration for those who can see beyond their party to what is best for the country.
