If Obama wins: Lorne Michaels on Charlie Rose, talking about how
difficult making fun of his candidacy would be, especially after *!

It won't be impossible. :)

one who is such an object of their scorn.

I so welcome a president who can speak. Think about that! We won't be a laughing stock for the rest of the world, finally.

3. Amen to that ...
Won't it be nice to have a president who isn't a punchline to every joke ever told?

4. For one he sucks at bowling
I mean, ok, he had rental shoes and a house ball, but any beginner can drill it somewhat down the middle and even hit a couple strikes at least on the first game.

But GUTTER BALLS???

6. SO? I do, too. He could change that bowling alley into a basketball court.
Would that upset you? I hear he's pretty good at basketball.
He should do what makes him comfortable, but the fact that he tried to do something that didn't appealed to me. You might not get that.

See, at least one thing we can mock him for.

Of course he would own me at basketball and I would own him at bowling.

deserve it. Dude.

5. I am sure there will be governors and congress critters and
others like michele backman that could use some bringing them into the light to expose their shenanigans - I know bush has help to make the comedians lives and livelyhood - but they will have to find more fodder and like realtors - they will have to really work for a living :) :)

8. I have no problem with that. Once we get a president who actually
acts and speaks 'presidentially', there will be less badmouthing. They've had 7 years of material, to the point where it got boring.

Obama won't be boring, and good luck dissing him on his intelligence. What a mind-fuck!

14. YOU are asking me about the Clintons?
I'll be kind.

Bill Clinton has been less than generous to Obama. Tomorrow they make their first visit together as Democrats.

Senator Clinton has been great. She has been on board.

What did you expect, juajen?

And For The Fucking Record, I AM AN OBAMA SUPPORTER, YOU ARE NOT. BITE ME.

9. Must be hard for Lorne to find Black Writers when he only hires from the Harvard Lampoon .

Funny how "Chocolate City" seems to have no problem.

Hmmmmmm,.

as you have such strong opinions. I'd love to hear all about it. :eyes: You are slamming SNL for what, and how long ago? :wtf:

20. Read the SNL book or Read Chevey Chase's autobiography and you'll see.

SNL has almost never hired any "street" writers in it's history.

Do you recall the sketch with Ellen Cleghorne playing the Marlo Thomas role in a "That Girl" type sketch called "That Black Girl"? The idea was to joke that the writers were so out of touch that they thought that Black women in NYC actually lived in the Holly Go Lightly Breakfast at tiffany's lifestyle. The visual joke was that when Ellen Cleghorne complained the writers came out from backstage and were all wearing Ivy League sweaters and ties and raccoon coats.....

The unfortunate thing is that SNL really hasn't changed that behavior in their hiring. They still OVERWHELMINGLY hire from the Ivy League. Having done Comedy on most all the college campuses in the Ivy League I can tell you that there is no exclusive to comedy there.

This hiring is affecting their sketches. A Few years ago SNL made a decision to look for new blood outside their usual Toronto-Chicago-NYC orbit and hire a bunch of Boston people. This lead to a period where they had good female comedians and writers (plus a few good males). Now it is painfully obvious now that all those women from that time left, (Fey, Pohler, Rudolph) that SNL needs a new infusion of talent.

Possibly this is the time for then to explore getting a good crop of writers who are capable of writing a Black character who is realistic, but I'm not holding my breath.

...on SNL when people aren't funny sometimes they die more places than onstage.

22. they are going to have work harder than they've had to the last 8 yrs
Let's face it. * was too easy. The jokes just wrote themselves. The next 8 years will be a challenge but real talent can handle it. First of all there's a guy on some youtube vids that does a spot on Obama impression. SNL needs to hire him. Second, if he's 'so perfect' or that difficult to make fun of, then use that. The laughs may come from the non-Obama characters in the skit but make it work people!
