I just stirred up a hornet's nest at Sen. Lindsey Graham's office (re: Ted Stevens).
I called the local office with a question that they could not answer, so they transfered me to the DC office. My question concerned Ted Stevens' felony convictions yesterday and Stevens' future in the US Senate. I asked that IF any one of Stevens' seven felony convictions are upheld on appeal, and IF Ted Stevens holds his seat in the November 4 elections and returns to the US Senate, how will Lindsey Graham vote if the question of Stevens' expulsion from the Senate arises.

They put me on hold and put the question to Graham's judicial assistant. I was then told that the scenario is "highly unlikely."

I asked what part of the manifold scenario is "highly unlikely." I asked if it is unlikely that Stevens loses his appeals, or is it unlikely that he wins his election in Alaska. Or is it unlikely that the Senate might consider the expulsion of a disgraced and convicted member? Or, if Stevens is re-elected, is it unlikely that Bu$h fails to pardon Ted Stevens?

By then the office employee of one of my US Senators was getting quite testy with me. We went round-and-round for several minutes with Graham's aide tap-dancing and equivocating in the exact manner I expected.

He said that any further comments from that office would be premature. I said that I wanted the info on Graham's stand to include in a LTTE I am writing for several newspapers. I said that I would use the equivocations that he had given. I could hear the steam hissing on the other end of the line.

3. Very nice work. This warms my heart like a basket of puppies
and a cup of hot chocolate with a shot of Irish Whiskey.

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in that office when you mentioned the LTTE. How sweet would it be to have seen the expression on his face.

10. Well, I wonder if they'll be releasing a statement about Stevens
since you forced the subject... well, whaddya know?
Looks like Lindsay called his pal Johnny:

Sen. McCain & Gov. Palin call on AK Sen. Stevens to Resign

being discussed on Morning Joe right now.
