Q: Why would Syria carry out torture renditions for the US?

I've read where the US would send these guys to contries thad had no laws against torture and Syria is always mentioned. Why would Syria do the US bidding?

1. Perhaps so that they did not suffer Iraq-like shock and awe???
Why did Musharif decide to cooperate with the US? Same reason.

Syria is run by the other half of the nationalist socialist secular Baath party, the half we didn't take out when we conquered Iraq.
