Boortz to poor people..."You deserve it"
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 03:00 PM by cynatnite
Just saw this on CNN. Boortz is such an idiot.

They were discussing economics and poor people. He basically said poor people deserve the rotten deal they get.

1. How Randian of him.
Perhaps he can get together with Alan Greenspan and they can chat about the looting class.

5. That's Calvinistic BS. Marvin Olasky, who helped to shuffle in *, had that attitude.
The assumption is the "poor" deserve to be poor as they have offended God in some way and this is their punishment. I know, I know, circular reasoning and prejudice and illusions of hierarchy.

7. off base
I don't think he in any way says people are poor because they have offended god and this is their punishment. Have you heard him say this or seen him write this?

His approach is more like saying if you're poor, you made some really bad choices in life -- drugs, crime, not getting educated, lazy, etc. He doesn't seem to take into account circumstances of life, though.

6. Ishoutandsream2 to Boortz..."You're full of shit."
My single mother, crying in the middle of the night, wondering how in the hell we were going to make it. She worked her ass off, but at "women's wages." Did she and my family deserve that, Mr Boortz?

Another reason why I could never, ever be a Republican.

8. Sounds like Barbara Bush 101

Her gaffe came after a visit with husband George Sr. to the Astrodome stadium in Houston, Texas, where thousands of evacuees from New Orleans and other affected areas are being housed.

Barbara chuckled as she said: "So many of the people here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

Such a true humanitarian. :sarcasm:

9. Yes, God hates poor people
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 03:10 PM by Zambero
They're just plain bad people, so God has punished them by rendering them poor. In order to respect the verdict of a just and veangeful God, we the saved must not intervene with matters charitable or with political intervention in order to assist these despicable urchins, for they so richly deserve the misery of their very being.
