Is everyone else's browser jumping down to the AdBot ad when they open a thread?
Sorry to clutter the forum with this, but it just started and it's bugging me.

4. Yes - horribly annoying
and a seemingly new, yet not valuable addition to the site.

5. I'm using Safari on a Mac and see no problem. Have you checked the
"Block pop up windows" menu item? It's under the Safari menu.

21. Yep, that's always activated.
It happens on the "Discuss" page too, and I jump down to the ad in the middle of the page.

38. I have turned off Google Ads. Maybe that's why I don't have the same
problem. I had them turned off in Preferences.

8. I wonder if it is a problem that only affects people who haven't donated.
If one of you want, donate to DU, get your star and see if there is a change in behavior of the site. Be sure to let us know. BTW, it doesn't have to be much, five or ten dollars would be appreciated.

BTW, I have no financial stake in this site, I'm just a long time user.

20. I think you're close to correct. Maybe Vista prevents it, but
most respondents on this thread haven't donated. I'm not having any problems either.

30. I have Vista.
It's weird because it's not all the time for me. Mine always seems to happen with the cafepress T-shirt ads.

On the "Discuss" page, when the cafepress t-shirt ad appeared in the middle of the page, it would jump to the middle of the page to that ad. Now that another ad appears, the t-shirt ad is in the upper corner and my page drops down just a little instead of down to the middle.

31. Do you use Firefox? That could make a difference, too.
I don't know if donating improves your odds of not having this happen, but I'm not having these kinds of problems.

Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 12:54 PM by OurVotesCount-Ohio
I was on DU for quite a while today before it happened the first time. I wrote about it down thread, when I went to the lounge it happened the first time, went straight to the bottom of a thread. That ad was also that same t-shirt Cafepress ad.

I'm not having it happen now and I'm not seeing that t-shirt ad.

9. Mine was too
found it quite annoying, we into internet connections and just looked around clicked close and it is back to normal. Me thinks someone corrected the problem and it had nothing to do with me. Or it's a republican plot to make us wring our hands over nothing.

began doing it over there.

Weird. My security/anti-virus program caught malware on here the other day too.

22. It happens when I "read all posts" on a thread.
If it's a long thread, with more than 20 responses, the browser has nothing to jump to, but if all the posts are "open," it jumps down to the bottom. Oh, and that ad doesn't load. Help!

36. Does it happen with all ads, or just with a particular ad?
And if it happens with a particular ad, what is the web address (URL) that the ad points to? I can block a particular ad if I know the URL.

37. For me, there doesn't seem to be a pattern.
Edited on Fri Oct-24-08 02:55 PM by ogneopasno
But the vast majority of AdBot ads that my browser is jumping to don't display at all. When I copy the link of the little bug that seems to be active in a blank box, it gives me this:

j a v a s c r i p t : n o p ( ) ;

Without all the spaces.
