PITTSBURGH, Pa. (CBS) ― Police are investigating after a local woman working at a campaign call center says she was attacked by a suspect who became enraged after seeing a McCain bumper sticker on her car, reports CBS station KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh.

According to police, the 20-year-old woman said she was mugged at an ATM in the Bloomfield area around 9pm last night after leaving a Republican phone bank.

The woman told police that the suspect, described only as a dark-skinned African-American man about 6'4", stole $60 from her and became enraged after seeing a bumper sticker supporting Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain on her car.

The woman said the suspect punched and kicked her.

The McCain camp tells KDKA that the victim is a 20-year-old Republican from Texas.

According to a campaign spokesperson, after seeing her bumper sticker supporting McCain, the suspect said, 'Oh you're with McCain, you're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson.'"

After beating the woman, the McCain camp says the suspect carved a "B" in her cheek for "Barack" Obama.

Police, however, have not confirmed that.

The unidentified woman reportedly declined immediate medical attention last night but said she would go to the hospital today.

there were women, soceer moms, that became addicted to gambling. They would lose their grocery money or more and then set up elaborate tales of being kidnapped and beaten and robbed. Hell, one I know locked herself in the trunk of her car. They would do all sorts of things rather than admit their problems, their addictions - to face the embarassment.

The ATM will have a video of the transaction. If she had no mark when she took out the money, then her assailant may well have done this to her. He/she could be a former friend/boyfriend that she owed money to, the "B" represents "bitch".

If no transaction, then she could have made up the story to explain why a boyfriend/friend, gave her the blackeye - the "B" could have been part of the assault and/or an after thought she threw in there.

Joe the Plumber has his glory, maybe she is trying to find her own.
