What could you do with $150,000?
I could pay off our house, credit cards, and car. Our house was purchased for just under $100,000 twelve years ago. I'm pretty sure with the money the GOP spent putting lipstick on their pig I could pretty much be debt free. How 'bout you?

5. There's a foreclosure house up the street from my Dad for $80K.
Buy that, fix it up, get a new car, maybe a beater pickup, put the rest away to pay for the remainder of my education and then LK's in a few years.

7. I could pay off my student loan
...which has managed to suck all refunds and stimulus checks away from me for the past 5 years... I could erase my bad debt from my ex husband...I could trade in my car and get a hybrid or something cleaner...

and maybe have some money left over to save for a down on a house once I can afford the payments...

More than anything, I would love to just go to Target with $500 and get my kids shoess that fit, get myself some clothes that aren't hand-me-downs... and some towels or sheets that actually match or don't have holes in them!

another thing I would love to do with some extra cash is go to the holistic doctor and get my health issues under control. Right now I go to the free clinic and they have no new answers. I would like to have better health and take a more long term approach rather than just taking a pill for 6 months that causes worse side effects!!!

Or, pay off every one that I owe money to, do a little work on the house that needs doing, and still have half left to spend on my kid's education.

Or I could find an underdressed tart from Alaska and wow her with baubles.

I'd have enough left over after the house and one charge card pay off, that we could get that new roof we need and two decent cars(ours are 18 & 16 yrs old) and pay off DH's medical bills from his hospital stay.

24. I could buy this lovely townhouse I am renting for 88,000
and get my female 9 month old Beauceron dog spayed! There is no free or low cost spaying in Arkansas like they do in Florida where I am from! Lowest I could find for spaying her is 75.00 at Humane Society and that is still too high for me. In Miami, FL, I was able to get my cats/dogs spayed FREE as long as they have up to date rabies shots with proof of Miami residency. Duh! And of course, pay off my credit cards. Usury is terrible, interest rates have raised to 25% and more even though I am never late. Can't make a dent on them on income I get each month.

I don't have a mortgage anymore. We have a small car payment on one of the two cars.

And we have a small house and a decent income, so we don't need month to month cash.

But, i sure don't want to work until i die.

46. Five years
We could live very comfortably for at least 5 years, if we both remain healthy. We're SS age, house, cars, etc. paid for. Vegetables and fruit canned or frozen. Don't get around much anymore, so no need for an elaborate wardrobe. DH cuts our own wood to burn in our stove that circulates hot water all over the house. Would still have enough for modest travel expenses. My DH is che---uh frugal so it's because of him that we have no worries now. Haven't looked at our investments though and probably won't for a couple of months. We trust our broker to do whatever she can to keep us from losing it all.
