When is the best time to make phone calls?
It seems no matter what time I am doing it I am not getting any answers? I am in NJ.

2. When I'm not at home.
;-) Seriously though, many people have caller ID and won't answer the phone if they don't recognize the number.

9. When I've worked campaigns, I've done a little of everything.
There are people that prepare mailers and signs and handout material. Those are some things you can do without having to engage the public too much if it bothers you. There are also lists of volunteers that can be called to ask them to attend canvassing events. Anything like that helps the effort.

4. Could it be your caller ID rather than time of day?
Lots of call-screening going on.

6. Between 7:30 and 8:00 weeknights
is the only time I really get answers. People have settled down from dinner at that point and may pick up the phone. After 8:00 people tend to get grumpy. Try on late Sunday afternoon. You might get the spouse who isn't interested in football.

More and more people screen their calls.

10. Not sure about the times, but
I called 90 people yesterday. 70 didn't answer. I had one lady who had gotten those awful emails and she was scared. I think I put her mind at ease and she said she will vote for Obama because I believed so deeply in him.

Another said that she couldn't vote for him because he said in his book that he was a muslim, I corrected her, but couldn't convince her he wasn't. I left her with the Colin Powell quote.

I also had a man who said he was against abortion and gay marriage. I explained Obama's positions on them and he said he would think about it.

On man said he wouldn't vote this year. He didn't have time to pay attention. His main issue was the farmers. I told him to at least vote for Tom Harkin our great Senator from Iowa. He said he liked Tom.

One more vote for Obama and a couple of think about its'. I thought it was a successful day.
