1. I assume you are referring to the diamond necklace?
The allegations that she commissioned an outrageous necklace in the midst of suffering of the masses was the spark for the storming of the Bastille.

3. Before i got to the end of your sentence, I wasn't sure who you were talking about!
In answer to your question, sure, yeah.

I basically mean, how modern Americans see "Marie Antoinette," no factual history required.

Kinda like when Old Bags Barbara Bush made that comment about people from New Orleans were herded into the Astrodome
"Almost everyone I've talked to says, 'We're gonna move to Houston.' What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas... Everybody is so overwhelmed by the hospitality, and so many of the people in the arenas here, you know, were underprivileged anyway. This is working very well for them."

I guess we need a Palin as Antoinette photoshop now!

11. There are many similarities between today and the French Revolution
As well as the Russian Revolution. It all comes down to wealth inequality and the 'let them eat cake' mentality. Spreading the wealth ain't socialism...it's survival for all.

15. Human nature is my favorite subject.
And the 'more things change, the more they stay the same.'

Intelligence gets power and arrogance loses it.

7. I thought it was an emerald.
Not that it matters, the dynamics are the same. People are suffering and "the Queen" is living in splendid excess.

4. She spent more on clothes than the average annual salary of 90% of the US.
It just shows how out of touch Palin and the RNC are. Most people buy their clothes in Walmart and Target, not Saks and Neimans.

13. I can understand wanting to give her a "national" makeover, since ...
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 07:23 PM by ColbertWatcher
... she's basically from a small town.

But, there's two ways to think about this action by the RNC, they know they've got the voting machines rigged and she'll become VP with a new wardrobe, or they're rats out to get what they can before the RNC ship is sinks.

9. Palin NEVER shopped at Saks, Nieman Marcus, or any of the others
before 2-3 months ago. Now that she has 'tasted the blood' of it all, so to speak - she'll just want more! Just what her "handlers" knew would happen.

Another 'made' tool.

10. And she didn't technically do the shopping herself ...
... she paid someone to shop for her.

19. "She" didn't pay - the RNC (Republican National Committee) paid to
create an 'image' (a false 'god') if I can take it that far.

I see now why contributions to the DNC(Democratic National Committee) are "discouraged".

12. I would fucking hope so
Coming from a party that tries to make major scandals over a 200 dollar haircut. It won't though because Marie (or her handlers) owns the media this time around.
