Anyone a secret Obama supporter?
Where I live it seems that everyone is pro McCain, although my state (NY) will vote democratic. I find that I have to hide my excitement, with Obama leading strongly...and just realized that I've been keeping my support for Obama a bit quiet. I do have heated discussions with friends and family - but putting a sign on my lawn or a bumper sticker on my car actually makes me think that I would be the victim of vandalism. Anyone in the same boat?

1. I have to be quiet during business hours at work,
as our patients are of all political stripes, but that's about it. Even my boss, who was a Republican, is voting Obama this year and has been sending out emails to everyone telling them Palin is an idiot and not to vote for the GOP. I live at the end of a long dirt road with no frontage on the highway, so there is no yard sign, but there is an Obama sticker in my back window of my car, right next to the Democratic Underground sticker. So far no problems, and I live in a very red area.

2. My whole neighborhood falls in this boat
Hillary signs all over the place in the primary. Now nothing. They will all vote for Obama though.

3. Here in red TN
In 2004 when I put a Kerry sign in my yard the next day almost every other house on the street put up a Bush sign. So far this year there's only one McCain sign and this time I'm not going to repeat 2004. I can tell by the lack of McCain signs in this deep red part of the south that there's not much enthusiasm for him.

4. I know several "secret" McCain supporters...
...and they tell me they are afraid of the "Black Man", so they won't put up signs or bumper stickers. Then they say, "But I'm not racist".

5. HA! . . .the "reverse-Bradly" effect!
I think there is FAR more evidence of this than there is of the "Bradley effect"

6. No, thank god.
Norman, OK is a lovely little sea of blue and there are Obama signs all over the place. I guess some have been stolen.
Right now I'm in Mexico, and everyone here, even in conservative Guadalajara, seems to like Obama.

I know how you feel though. When I first moved to Oklahoma, being a Democrat was like have a big, bad blue D on my forehead.

7. Hey, I live in Norman too!
I usually keep quiet at work, don't even want to get into it with some of these folks here. But, I do have a sign in my yard, and they're all over here, even though Oklahoma is McCain's strongest state, from what I understand.

9. Go Norman!
Living there has kept me from killing myself. Haha, I kid, sort of.
Well, as I said, I'm not there at the moment. And I miss it like crazy!!! Never thought that would happen.
I'm a grad student, so I can talk politics with my colleagues, even those that disagree...but, I'm careful talking politics in certain places (got thrown out of Mr. Bills once for yelling at a woman who called Dems godless heathens). And we used to have a pretty lively Drinking Liberally group too, that occasionally drew unpleasant looks.

10. We are totally OUT about our Obama support.
It helps to have a big, scary-looking (but in a cute way) husband. He wears his Obama shirts everywhere out here and smiles while he does it. We live in a formerly Republican area west of Atlanta, and so far, we've only had compliments about our shirts and stickers.

14. My 82-year old Republican (worked for them and everything) mother is one
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 08:44 PM by NNN0LHI
She won't tell most of her friends but she is voting for Obama for the third time. Once for State Senator. Once for US Senator. And now for President.

A Trifecta.

15. I have both (sign and bumper sticker that's on my rear window).
Only the bumper sticker has been messed with and subsequently I have scratches scratches from the removal attempt. Nothing really too damaging or threatening yet.
