Poll question: Am I paranoid?
Edited on Tue Oct-21-08 09:24 PM by ColbertWatcher
But it seems to me two recent news stories are related.

Allow me to explain.

Just one day before Politico publishes a story showing that the GOP paid more than "$150,000 to clothe and accessorize" their VP candidate, Rupert Murdoch's New York Post's Page Six spread lies that Michelle Obama stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria eating luxury meals of http://gawker.com/5066310/michelle-obamas-terrorist-meal-fake-admits-page-six">lobster and caviar!

Is it just me? Or, does it seem like the Page Six lie was published to head-off the fact about the GOP's narcissism?

A. Yes, you are paranoid; they are unrelated

B. Yes, you are paranoid. Now, what's this about Politico?

C. No, you're not paranoid, the GOP controls the media and the right hand doesn't do a thing without the far right hand knowing what's going on

D. Maybe not paranoid, but skeptical or even suspicious

E. Other, I will diagnose you in my reply

3. Ok, can we talk about the "Iranian caviar"????
Not only did they LIE their flabby hineys off, look at what they said she ordered, "Iranian Caviar."

Geez. Fraackin frickin. Sonofabotchin. Frackin. FRICK!

Talk about depraved, worthless piles of scum.

It's not enough to make up a menu of items to make her sound elitist. Oh no! That's not
good enough!

They have to make up that she ordered the "terrorist caviar" too!!!

Bastages!! Every one of them!

13. E. Other, diagnosis ahead...
At the very least, you are capable of recognizing double standards. One standard for them (lowered bar), another standard for us (impossibly higher bar); one standard for white women (who are them), another standard for non-white women (in their world, there's white and there's everyone else).

I was just reading through a FED report about wealth; yep. There's white and then there's everyone else. Nice, huh? :puke:

I'm surprised they didn't bring a Cadillac into the description of Mrs. Obama. Gotta be cautious with those "dog whistles" now some of us have caught on.

:nuke:

16. I had that problem once.
I had to get a new helmet. Sometimes the tinfoil wears thin and the "disreputable" signals start getting in the way of the true conspiracy theories; thereby giving us respectable conspiracy theorists a bad name.

Either that or Alpha Centuri has amped up their signal. I hate when they do that. They almost blew out my last helmet with that. I had to get the heavy-duty tinfoil for my current :tinfoilhat:

Or you receive the good and it turns out to be bad?

It's so hard to be a good conspiracy theorist these days.

with an observation of my own.

I've somehow tied the contents of John Perkins' book, 'Confessions of an Economic Hit Man', to our current economic meltdown.

26. Your analysis is incomplete
There was also a story about Palin taking her kids on trips with her and doing it on Alaska's dime.

In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters' 64 one-way and 12 round-trip commercial flights since she took office in December 2006. In some other cases, she has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.

Alaska law does not specifically address expenses for a governor's children. The law allows for payment of expenses for anyone conducting official state business.

As governor, Palin justified having the state pay for the travel of her daughters — Bristol, 17; Willow, 14; and Piper, 7 — by noting on travel forms that the girls had been invited to attend or participate in events on the governor's schedule.

***

In October 2007, Palin brought daughter Bristol along on a trip to New York for a women's leadership conference. Plane tickets from Anchorage to La Guardia Airport for $1,385.11 were billed to the state, records show, and mother and daughter shared a room for four nights at the $707.29-per-night Essex House hotel, which overlooks Central Park.

They had to say Michelle stayed at a fancy hotel and ordered fancy, anti-American food (champagne = France and the caviar was Iranian) to offset the stories about Palin's expenses. But I also see something else. Look at what Page Six accused Michelle of ordering

From the Gawker: "...Michelle Obama didn't order Iranian caviar, two whole lobsters, a lobster hors d'oeuvres and champagne from room service the other night, as the Post's Page Six claimed."

The implication was that Michelle wasn't alone. Why would she order two whole lobsters, caviar, hors d'oeuvres and champagne if she was by herself? That sounds more like a romantic dinner for two. I think they were going for trying to plant a last minute sex scandal in the news. Or maybe I am more paranoid/scared of what the GOP will stoop to than you are.

and found a bunch of other scary stuff. Like there was a receipt that was allegedly signed by Michelle. Can you believe that? They forged a receipt! They fabricated evidence and tried to pass it off.
