1. This long time Red Sox fan (since 67) congratulates the Rays - definitely the better team!
The Rays will give the Phillies quite a challenge - will be an entertaining World Series! (my prediction - Rays in 6!)

11. Better team?
I'm going to have to call BS on that. Their manager shouldn't be allowed to coach tee-ball. The fact that the Sox didn't capitalize on a plethora of opportunities, from leaving the starter in in the 7th, to pulling him with one out in the 7th in favor of someone who has been shaken these last three games, to bullpen by committee to cobble out an eighth inning which only ended on a ball being called strike three, to any number of more amateur mistakes which will only be surpassed by the Phillies crushing them. Kudos to them, sure. But they were lucky. And luck runs out.

18. Better team than the crippled Sox - definitely! Look at those starters.
With Lowell out, Drew hobbled, etc - Sox in the playoffs are far from the team that started the season.

9. Yeah I know, Go Royals....
And I mean that.

This year we got to pull for the Rays.
The little team that could, and did.

They beat the Red Sox.
Not an easy accomplishment.

If Coco had slid for the bag instead of trying to take out Barret, the bases are loaded with 1 out. But credit due to TB...I'm happy for those guys....from last place to the Series in 1 year. :toast:

the Rays would fold tonight. Hats off to them ... 1 game at a time, and tonights game was all that mattered. :toast: to both teams.

26. I just love it when the underrated teams do well in baseball.
It's nice to have a World Series with these "smaller-market" teams in it. See, you don't need a brazillion-dollar payroll to win. Sometimes it does even help you win the division.

29. And a happy side effect...
of the Ray's superb effort against the Red Sox will surely be sub-par tv ratings and revenue for Fox during the World Series, now featuring two smaller-market teams. So, good job!

31. How about that rookie pitcher David Price!
His first year in pro ball and he has pitched the final outs of the Rays two biggest games in their history.

He had only pitched in 5 games and 14 innings in The Bigs before the post season. The kid must have nerves of steel.

When he was in college at Vanderbilt he got shellacked a few times and figured he was a bust so he left school to go work at a McDonalds in his hometown but the coach came and talked him into rejoining the team.
Rays fans (and Bosox haters) owe that coach a big "thanks".

39. If I was a betting man I'd put money on the Rays in the series.
Doesn't mean I'd root for them ... but I think they fought off quite a team in Boston ... better than my Dodgers that the Phillies beat. Anyway welcome to DU too notaleming ... intriguing series coming up. Peace. :hi:
