Younger voters ............... will they or won't they?
Note - right up front - this is NOT intended as a slam to young people. I'm just trying to get a sense of what others think ..... will younger voters turn out big for Obama?

A talking head just observed that he thought they would. He felt that, in the past, they would have been voting against someone. And that's not all that strong a reason. It is easy to say "Hey, he's ahead (or behind) .... my vote won't make much difference."

But this time, he thought, people were actually voting **for** someone (Obama, in most cases). And that means their vote is a statement.

He thinks the youth vote will be there for Obama this time.

What do you think?

1. Yes, they were the one's to push and work and devote so much time
when Obama had a 23% approval 20 months ago... I think they will come out and vote for him this year. I think they are excited.. and they are excited about Obama's vision of the future.. it looks nice.. much better than the present now.

2. If the past is any indication then no they won't bother, but I think this year is different.
I truly believe there is something going on. What it is ain't exactly clear. I hope this year they decide to get off their ass and vote.

3. Obama is the candidate of their making...
They were there when it started... they will certainly show up for the end of this.

Will they be there for him in 4 years? That's a much more interesting question.

4. Hey stink...
I have a young woman who cuts my hair.
She's a sweet young 23 year old and I asked her if she was registered and she said yes.
And she's for our side.

There are maybe 10 young kids in my office all enthusiastic for our guy.
They are fired up and ready to go.

Let me put it this way my friend...

I don't know anyone (well maybe one but she's a fundy) who ain't voting for Obama.
And I am in freaking FLORIDA.

We are so gonna roll.

Chill brother, it's good for your heart.

:hi:

7. Yanno .... that's really good to hear ......
I'm in one of the bluer of the blue states - Maryland. Its hard for me to gauge.

Anecdotally, I was in to pick up some meds today. The pharmacist and all the techs were talking about the debate last night. It was clear they were all for Obama. All were younger people ....... early twenties to maybe early thirties or so.

6. I think they will. The ones I know are scared...rightfully so....
about economic and environmental issues, and how they are both linked.

They've seen a dumbass in office for eight years; to see an intelligent person in office is their goal, they know the survival of this country depends on it.
