1. The market freefall is a result of almost 30 years of repug deregulation...

4. Yep, they tried like hell to put off the tanking of our economy until January
What do you think those "stimulus checks" were about? They knew. Hell, anybody paying attention knew. It just hit too fast and too hard for them to slow it down.

2. That's why I'm so glad the market is taking its big hit NOW.
I was so afraid Bush would limp out of office while the DOW hung around 10K, then plummet in a few months once Obama is president.

The collapse was, in fact, brought on by the way the Bush administration chose to handle - or I should say "not handle" - the financial messes sooner. They put it off as long as possible, then tried to spook everyone into acting in a three day period. The Bushies are the ones who spooked the markets and led to the big runs.

I just want us to find the bottom of this recession NOW, under Bush, so Obama can be the healer.

3. A crash now helps in two ways..
One - it makes Obama's election victory much easier.

Two - it makes Obama's case for re-election easier. If the Dow is 8000 when he takes office and 14000 when he's running for re-election, he can paint a lovely before-after picture for voters.

The timing of this crash has been most fortunate. :)

11. I agree. The bust coming now means we will certainly be recovered by 2011.
We need a strong economy for his reelection, assuming he wins this one. The bust coming now almost assures that. By then, the US will likely have gotten paid back for the bailout, and that will mean Obama could balance the budget for 2011.

13. In addition, our troops will be out of Iraq and we'll hopefully be done in Afghanistan by the end of
2009, meaning $150 billion per year in the war efforts that can now be applied elsewhere, say education and healthcare. Or even something like paying off the federal deficit.

14. I just spent about an hour at Free Republic.
It's a total meltdown over there. Like someone dropped a nuke. Or farted in a closed room after a big Mexican food meal. Lots of teeth gnashing and praying. I imagine there was a lot of beer drunk and and TV's broken from hurled beer bottles. Hilarious! They would feel a little better if they walked upright (and their knuckles will hurt less, too.). I get the feeling that if you put a Freeper's brain on the edge of a razor blade, it would look like a BB rolling down an eight lane highway. Maybe if they build their houses out of stolen hotel room Bibles, they will survive an Obama presidency.

Decent thinking people have suffered for eight years. Fuck the Freepers- now they know what it feels like.

15. Consider this...
It was all caused when Obama signs the Causally Retroactive 2008 Crash Act of 2009. Sorry, am I getting the tenses right? This time travel stuff has me confused.
