What will happen to Lieberman
in an Obama Administration? What is the party's plan for him? Last I heard they were going to punish him for his speaking at the Repub converntion. Just wondering.

1. I would hope
I would hope that the Democrats would remove him from all positions that give him any power. If he wants to play with the Republicans let him caucus with them too. Don't be surprised though if Obama and the leadership come out with some line like 'now is no time from recriminations. now is the time to come together to deal with the problems of this country'. As far as Lieberman goes the very least I would do is move his committee assignments to committees he is not interested in and where he can do minimal harm.

3. if Lieberman ends up being the 60th member of our caucus
I expect all will be forgiven...

Otherwise he'll have no cards to play, and could very well get kicked out of our caucus.

10. What would it matter if he's #60?
He's still going to vote whichever way he wants, no matter who he caucus' (caucuses?) with. Nor is it likely he'll vote with the Democrats.
He's disgruntled with the Dem's, yet he's bound to be unhappy with the 'pukes because they nixed him as McBush's running mate -- the thing is, as already mentioned, he's already irretrievably burnt his bridges with the Democrats so out of necessity for political survival he must cultivate friends to watch is increasingly vulnerable, crooked back.

With friends like those, who need enemies?

IMO he should be kicked out of any Democratic Party committee or position simply because --not just in party affiliation but in ideology-- he is NOT a Democrat.

16. I think it's obvious
he would have a lot of leverage if he were the deciding vote for a filibuster proof majority - in return for keeping his party chairmanship, he would promise to vote with the Democrats on certain bills. That's politics, that's how it works. There's no such thing as "irretrievably burning your bridges" in politics, there's only power and the exercise of power. If he's in a position to give the Democrats sixty votes, he will have a large degree of power, and I'm sure he'll use it.

21. But he won't
at least IMO
He's a loose cannon, proven untrustworthy -- he cannot be counted on, no matter what he promises.

The pukes only use him when it's convenient for them, could Dem's possibly trust him? Even feel as worthy to expend the energy to even entertain the idea?
I doubt that too.

He's useless to us. The ONLY thing that will keep him in line is keeping his constituents happy, but who voted for him? A mix of Democrats and Republicans. He's damned either way he votes.

LIEberman is done. Over. Irrelevant.
He'll be moving to Israel within 10 years, is my guess; what an American.

7. Maybe not in the literal sense
But I think he will fade away, forgotten and alone. No one will want him to have a seat at the proverbial table and he will disappear the next election cycle.

5. The Term Is "Backbenched"
He went all-in for Gramps and he's already worn out his welcome in the Democratic caucus. Traitor Joe made a deal that made Reid the Majority Leader in return for keeping his chairmanships and agreeing to the oppressive 60 vote rule on almost every vote. With a true Democratic majority, Joe becomes a nothing. Seems like the GOOP aren't willing to offer him tenure and his vote will no longer be needed...he'll be the lone "independent" independent...a party of one...sitting alone at the back of the Senate while the rest of his term runs out.

Being the weasel he is, I expect Traitor Joe to try to schmooze his way back into the Democratic caucus, but burned too many bridges, pissed off too many of his former allies...he's backing the wrong horse and is gonna pay a serious price.

Cheers...

Being the self-serving asshat he is, I don't expect him to go down without a fight.

13. Joe who?
I have vague memories of a good for nothing, self-aggrandizing fool with that name, but... yeah, they're fading quickly.

What was that name again?

15. It depends...
...if they get 60 Senate seats, they have to keep him.

Since I am guessing that they will come in at 57 or 58 seats, my bet is that they dump him from the caucus.

19. Political oblivion
I should think that we can always get a stray repub or two to side with us when we're 58 or 59 seats.

In other words, we sing the Lieberman Hymnn .....

(Low Gregorian chant) Hym .... Hym ..... Fuck Hym .....
