Question for Canadian DUers re: the election.....
.... What is the Bloc Quebecois' political identity, on a left-right scale. I know the left-of-center vote in Canada is split among the Liberals, NDP and Greens, but is the Bloc considered left-leaning too?

8. The bloc are basically separatists; The promote the sovereignty
of Quebec and the protection of their interests inside the federal government. It's a very strange and unique situation.
Obviously, it is only French Quebecers who vote for this party.
However the population representation of Quebec is such that it supports a large number of seats in the house.
So it is about as far left as you can go.

9. Very left. I don't think there's a rightist candidate in all Quebec.
They won't help the Conservatives, but the Bloc splits the liberal vote even further.

11. The BQ are all about the BQ
That's what it boils down to. They don't much care about other politics, because they're about Quebec, and what they think Quebec needs.

It's a fucking joke that they get so many seats with such a small percent of the votes and such a narrow outlook on politics and our country.

I don't consider them left or right, (but if I did I guess maybe left) because they're separatists, period.

Noticed that flying into Montreal, en route to London on my trip.

Lots of pools. They have a nice airport as well. Very friendly people.

There is definitely a vibe there that is metrosexual too.

24. Most of the ridings they won that i looked at
weren't a contest between them and the Cons, it was mostly between them and the Liberal party. So, I dunno about that.
