6. I don't think it's a conscience issue...

...I think it's a mix of a few things:

1). His "legacy" is pretty well screwed. Yes, it HAS been for quite a while, but now it is screwed past the point of ANY possible spinning.

2). Any thoughts of leaving office with low visibility are pretty well screwed.

3). If he goes to the Crawford Pig Farm, he's gonna catch flack for taking yet another vacation while the economy is tanking, so in terms of his beloved time off, he's pretty well screwed.

4). Any thoughts of "I'll be remembered as a better president than my daddy" are pretty well screwed.

That about sums it up.
