Exclusive: Obama buys half-hour of network primetime
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 05:07 PM by Chimichurri
Barack Obama has purchased a half-hour of primetime television on CBS and NBC, sources confirm.

The Obama campaign is producing a nationwide pitch to voters that will air on at least two broadcast networks. The ad will run Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m. -- less than a week before the general election.

The direct purchase of such a large block of national airtime right before an election used to be more commonplace before campaigns began to focus their end game strategies exclusively on battleground states. Such a move is not without precedent in modern presidential politics, however -- Ross Perot did a similar purchase in 1992.

Excellent.
This will bankrupt McCain's campaign, very smart move to hold on to this til now.

1. I am glad none of my contributions are going to ABC. This is
a totally brilliant move on Obama's part. I am thinking last month's contributions to the campaign were $80 to $100 million.

2. As long as he's not sacrificing any :30's or :60s or radio for this
I question how effective these are with America's world famous lack of attention span. It could be very good in swaying some serious undecideds, but I wonder how many there could really be that late in the game. He needs to have a lot of those quick hit spots running too, to stay fresh in "joe six pack's" brain.
