1.3 Million People Make a Living on Ebay
JM: I like Meg Whitman , she knows what it's like to be out there in the marketplace. She knows how to create jobs. Meg Whitman was CEO of a company that started with 12 people and is now 1.3 million people in America make their living off eBay. Maybe somebody here has done a little business with them.

1.3 Million make their living there - living as in their primary mode of support? No way.... is that even possible?

7. Yeah - I get that, but that number seems really high...
... if 'living' means primary financial support.

I just wish i could get the source on that one.

9. True. Seems quite high. Maybe that is just the count of ebay stores.
How would they track who makes their primary living on ebay.

5. If that is true it was double that before Whitman changed all the Ebay policies and screwed over
sellers a couple years ago.

Before that i could have said that Ebay was the stock that was Immune to downturn.

Now i predict they won't last til the next election.

10. My brother does very well on Ebay.
It is not his only income, as he is a fireman/paramedic. He works every third 24 hour shift. That's key to his success, as he is able to attend auctions, estate sales, etc.

He knows what will sell on Ebay, but is also willing to take a chance. For example, he picked up a case of 12 new gadgets of some sort for $100. He sold them individually on Ebay. They went for between $125. and $200. each.

He very seldom takes a loss, but is willing to do so if he needs to make room for more "junk".

13. Before Ebay we called it
a garage sale, many of which are now being called foreclosure sales.

After you sold the computer to make the house payment you go a tad less high tech.
