On the CNN meter, she consistently flat-lined on three things:
1) folksy talk
2) John McCain the "maverick"
3) being confrontational with Biden

2. At the end they asked the participants who won and supposedly Biden was the overwhelming
winner.

5. Pretty good, mostly
especially when he described Cheney as the most dangerous VP we've ever had.

6. Surprisingly well.
It seemed like there were very few times were Biden dipped below the midway point. He was consistently probably 50-60%, with times where he shot all the way up to 90-100%. Palin was more polarized; sometimes she would reach 75% and stay there for awhile, then other times she would dip to 40% or so.

8. During the first 20 mins or so, Biden was rated just so so & Palin
got good ratings. Then it changed. She started doing the folksy talk thing & she attacked Biden. But best, Biden really started to come into his own.

Overall, Bidens lines were higher more often than Palins.

22. CrispyQGirl is spot on.
Biden really started a bit slow, but hit the ground running. She started off essentially with the best she had and couldn't keep it up the whole time. The folksy talk may be her, but standing next to a man with tons of experience and you were a mayor and a small state governor with scant experience, it doesn't make you seem like you fit in.

Biden hit his stride when it hit foreign policy where she started getting into talking point after talking point and Biden really displayed the breadth of his knowledge.

I think, simply put, he was best when he related everything to us. The little guys.

3. Every time she mentioned John McCain, the lines fell.
Other times, when mentioning other things, I couldn't tell if they were falling because people disapproved of the things that she was saying, or if it was because -she- was saying it and they disapproved of her.

18. I got that feeling about a lot of what Biden was saying
When he went on the attack, the line flattened, but I couldn't tell if they were unhappy about Biden, or unhappy about McCain.

14. She'd never been out of Alaska, never out of the U.S., so she's "proud"?
Proud of being an American? What on earth could she compare it to?

10. That's good to hear.
The time when she scolded Biden for looking back at the Bush administration had me screaming at the TV. I would have broken CNN's little dial-o-meter trying to force it below zero.

17. I screamed when she said,
"The chant is 'Drill, baby, drill.'"

I would have been hard pressed to not reach out & smack her. Arrogant little snot.

13. I watched CNN focus group for the first time. Here's what I learned...
1. Their focus group concept is fatally flawed because it doesn't account for scale. When working with others, Biden discussed his career in the Senate, Palin threw out some anecdotal story about working within her very diverse family, and the focus group response was identical.

2. Palin's reluctance to respond to questions not only didn't register among the focus group members, but she was rewarded for her off topic responses each time.

3. The focus group consists of vapid attention seekers.

16. The not answering questions drove me crazy!
Biden was way more composed than I would have been. I would have stated, "I'll answer the question when she does."
