Palin’s new plan: Go after Biden
http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/14220
ST. LOUIS — Sarah Palin plans to go on the attack in tonight’s debate, hitting Joe Biden for what she will call his foreign policy blunders and penchant for adopting liberal positions on taxes and other issues, according to campaign officials involved in prepping her for tonight’s showdown.

The Palin camp is projecting surprising self-confidence in the pre-debate hours, despite the vice presidential nominee’s uneven — and, at some points, peculiar — performances in recent television interviews, the officials say. Top advisers to John McCain privately say Palin’s recent CBS interview was a borderline disaster, especially since it played out in several segments over several days. Tonight will be different, they say.

“This is going to finally put her back into a position where we see her like we saw her the first couple weeks,” a McCain official said. “She was herself. She was authentic, and people related to that. ... Tonight, she’ll get into a rhythm. You’re going to see her in a way that you haven’t seen her yet.”

16. Some will label him as such no matter what he says,
so he should treat her like he would any other debate opponent. I don't buy the right-wing spin that says he has to pull his punches against her. Sure, he shouldn't pile on when she fucks up, but he shouldn't fret over whether he's following the Marquess of Queensberry rules, either. She sure as hell won't.

If she stays on offense all night, as she is sure to do, and Biden comes across as a milquetoast, how does that help the Obama-Biden campaign?

7. She will NOT gain back any lost approval by only attacking.
Frankly I think most of America has made the call on her already. I don't see this debate changing much.

13. Me either...I don't think Palin will make any progress going on the attack
The few undecides who are left aren't going to buy it, no one on the left is going to buy it, and the Republican base is already going to vote McCain...she doesn't have a very big pool to try and win over.

8. She does and it opens the debate up
Biden will then be free to address her and bite right back at her.

11. The only way that strategy can possibly work for her is if she understands the issues
Because unless she has a firm grasp on the issues she will be attacking him on he will be able to respond and flatten her. Remember, she has to be coached to know where to go after Biden. Biden, on the other hand, is intimately familiar with any point she might bring up and also be knowledgeable of the nuances she is clueless about.

12. Not gonna underestimate her, but she'll not get by with just one line zingers.
In fact if she appears to be overly disrepectful of Joe Biden, her base will love it, but it will bite her in the ass.

18. Agree. Most sane voters want to see knowledge and leadership.
This was proven in the Obama/McLiar debate and will continue to hold true for the debate this evening.

If the Moose does not articulate her specific views on questions posed, and chooses rather to attack Biden or Obama's positions, it will be clear that she has no true substance or knowledge on anything. And although the jabs will score some points with her base, what the rest of the nation is looking for her to do is to prove that she, Sarah Palin is truly fit to be a leader and to hold office of VPOTUS.

Attacking is the last thing people want in a leader right now. Expertise, pragmatism, and sound judgement are far more heavily weighted desireable traits. Her challenge this evening, and for her good, hopefully her staff has realized this, is to define who SHE is, what her views are, and most importantly, based on those, how she would help McLiar lead, and in the case that his health deteriorates, that she could herself lead this country.

The Moose is a one-engine train pulling 200 fully loaded cars from the bottom of a mountain hoping to ascend to the peak. My guess is that she will start the climb and give it her all, but the sheer reality of the challenge set before her will defeat her. She may make it beyond a few sets of switchbacks in her attempt to reach the top, but this mountain is not forgiving, and the weight of the load she is attempting to pull will eventually begin taking the entire train backwards down the tracks while the engine spews smoke in its attempt to prevail.

19. Agreed
Biden will make her look even dumber then she is, trying the one liner route would be a serious mistake on her part. Then again... I'm not sure she really has any hope of coming out of this looking good. I think the best she can hope for is that no more right wing talking heads will turn against her.

made them pay for the rape kits. Let's see if the media labels it a KO.

17. Backed into a corner with little to lose
This approach is risky. But what does she have to lose? Credibility?? Trust??? This may energize the base, but it won't go do much for moderates and independents. And it'll energize us too. Yet another reason to despise this piece of shit.

20. Oh, what was her old plan? Recapping the swimsuit competition?
This isn't a new plan, it's the same one they've had all along.

However, my bet is that she's going to gibber her way through it, neutralizing any effect it might have had with a sane candidate voicing it.

21. No matter what she says it will not erase her stand on issues.
By now the voters that have not taken a firm choice won't be swayed by "performance". They are seeking substance. Gov. Palin does not posses any.

Gov. Palin needs to be Impeached, now!!!

At the very least, Alaskans need to mount a Recall Petition & toss her out. She is corrupt & inept. The vetting process of her becoming Gov. must have been almost non existent. Her abuses while Gov. have been ignored until recently. The spotlight has revealed her unethical & perhaps criminal actions as Gov. She screwed up by accepting a position that is way beyond her level & has brought about scrutiny of her as Mayor & Gov. She is unfit to be Gov., much less VP or possibly Pres. of the USA.

Without accomplishments or brilliance of her own, she has only been able to attack or babble.
