It really has to be asked: Is McCain's mental instability lately...

... just an ordinary effect of the stress and fatigue of campaigning?

Or is there a more serious issue here?

...is that his colleagues in Congress knew what an unstable nutjob was, and they allowed
him to ascend to this level of politics.

They all know what an unstable freak he is.

I suppose Huckabee and Romney split the fundie vote--and McCain won that way--but still. Someone
in the Republican party should have stopped this unstable man from becoming their nominee.
