Asian stocks, dollar fall after Senate approves bailout
HONG KONG: Asian stocks and the US dollar reversed earlier gains while safe haven bids such as US Treasuries rose even after the U.S. Senate approved a $700 billion bailout plan of the financial system.

Japanese and South Korean stocks accelerated their losses after the approval, helping the MSCI index of Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan dip down 0.7 percent, reversing a modest gain immediately before the U.S. Senate vote...

The dollar, which had hovered near a one-year high against a basket of currencies earlier in the day, also cut part of its gains, with a key dollar index up 0.17 per cent.

Short-term U.S. Treasuries turned positive, erasing earlier losses as investors again moved toward safe haven bids.

2. I think it's time for this:

Why anyone thought this was a good idea, I'll never know. At times like this, though, it's better to enjoy the fireworks than consider how many people died in their creation.

I'm still waiting for that mushroom cloud from Saddam's mobile weapons labs, though. Colin still hasn't delivered my entertainment!

7. Browsing a little in the current greatest threads, I noticed that the fervent
bailout supporters seem to have gone even. Can't find any more of these "you don't want the bailout so you must want that we all be homeless and eat dirt" posts...

What happened?

6. Limiting the downside of equities..
also limits their upside potential, making them weaker investment assets.

Developing markets will be increasingly attractive to traders.

There's a price to pay for rewarding risk.
