Are we the only house in America that has stopped getting credit card offers?
I have noticed something in the last six weeks, that all credit card offers in our mailbox have ceased to exist. I am not a fan of polls so it would be nice to get some feedback on the credit crunch from us average Americans.

1. Capital One would sometimes send two in one day.
They have definitely slowed down. We don't get the airline ones anymore either.

4. I stopped getting them
but I also signed up online about 2 months ago to get off the mailing lists because I was tired of junk mail. No way to know if that kicked in or if it's something else.

Welcome to DU!

I checked your profile and see that you hail from Dublin, Texas.

Some of the biggest hellraisers I have ever known are from Dublin.

One was my Late, Great Father-in-Law, Al D Hennessee.

And, believe it or not, I really miss Meridian, Clifton and Glen Rose.

19. Tom, my family hails from Clifton and Cransfill Gap
My maternal family came from Norway and Denmark and settled in Bosque county. My grandparents, great grandparents, and great great grandparents are buried at the Rock Church cemetery. My mother will also be buried there. The Lutheran Church in the Gap is still called the new church, even though it was built in 1917.

My step father in law is from Dublin. Graduated high school there in 1961. I love him dearly, but he is a Republican of the worst kind.

34. Geez, small freaking world
My step father was born in Rockwall in 1931. As you may well know, Rockwall county is perhaps the reddest county in north Texas.

14. Nope I still throw them in the garbage...........
maybe thats the problem people keep costing them money by throwning them away.
I get 3-6 offers in a month and the e-mail ones even more.If they told me I could have a million dollars for 1 cent a month maybe then I'd consider it.

21. we got 2 on Monday, & an offer of a $129,000 reverse mortgage.
I saw a lot of ads online for re-fi's and reverse mortgages right alongside articles on how there would be no more credit.
"Weapons of Mass Destruction", "Credit Freeze", Bush does it again.

Got one today from WaMu.

Capital One got to be such a nuisance (getting 2 or 3 a day from them) that I called them and asked to be taken off their "list."

30. I haven't gotten any in months. But I think it is because
every time I received one, I would tear it into tiny pieces and mail it back in their post-paid envelope.

31. Now that you mention it, they've dropped off for me, too.
I had to start an LLC for freelance purposes, although I don't operate a business. Nevertheless, I used to get tons of offers to open business accounts. I would get a handful of those every week, sometimes two or three a day. They have virtually dried up.

Sure makes going through the mail a hell of a lot easier.

35. Hard to say
Hard to say if there are fewer credit-card mailings than usual--we shred them instantly. There still seem to be a lot.

I think we're getting more stealth offers. You know, the ones that come in the mail looking like they're from the auto club or your insurance agent and turn out to be just another credit card offer.

36. Still getting them and getting offers at stores when I buy things....
Bought the only piece of clothing I've bought in quite a long time.....a nice warm robe to help keep me warm this winter as I turn the heat down even further than normal. Did it via a store I've bought from in the past. They offered me their damn credit card when I ordered -- said I was preapproved. Um, no thanks.
