Strong Speech by Biden (KO)
Watching Olbermann, that was a very strong speech by Joe Biden, where it actually seemed like he shared the intense anger that many of us feel. I have always liked Joe Biden, but now DU, let me have it since so many of you seem to hate him.

2. My jaw was on the floor! That's exactly what needs to happen every day..
Until we're completely out of Iraq.

Bravo Biden! Never thought I'd say that. ;)

3. Biden often delivers stirring speeches.
But then he turns around and votes with the corporations. Joe "MBNA" Biden is all talk and hair plugs.

5. I may not agree with him on everything...
but on the war, I really trust and respect his positions.

6. No way he'll cave after that speech
It was pure anger and passion, impossible to fake.

Did you see the speech?

7. I saw the speech. It was great.
I've also seen other great performances by Biden that resulted in... not much of anything. I hope he follows through this time, but I'm skeptical.

9. I wouldnt be skeptical...
especially with him at the head of the Foreign relations committee, which means a lot of power.

10. Meh.
Biden is like Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown. I wouldn't be too eager to kick it if I were you. I've watched Biden's career for a long time, and I've seen that while he knows how to deliver a real stemwinder of a speech, and while he might sincerely believe his own words while he is speaking them, nothing ever happens. Joe loves the sound of his own voice and the sight of a camera pointed in his direction, but I'd prefer less talk and more action.

13. THe Problem I have...
Is that people do not understand that it is hard to actually do action in the senate because of the lack of 60 votes, much less even a majority.

16. But Joe was a bloviator when the Dems were in the majority.
He's always been a publicity hound since 'way back; he's been a Senator since 1973. Nothing new going on here. And, BTW, I'm quite old, been around politics since the '60s, and I DO understand about needing 60 votes. That's not a valid excuse; Joe is a corporatist at heart, always has been.

17. But it IS happening!
I don't understand why some people here can't see that. This is NOT the same congress we had in 2005.

4. I like Biden
Though neither he nor Senator Kennedy will get to bask in the glory of being President.

11. He does screw up a lot
but there are a lot of good moments when he says the right thing. It makes you wish you could edit out the bad moments because his good moments are actually pretty fantastic.

14. Wow, I've never been prouder of Biden! I still think he's a bit too
much of a corporatist for my taste, but I appreciate his raw emotion in expressing how so many of us feel...
