If tomorrow were Christmas would Congress work?
I realize religious holidays are symbolic, but if the crisis is REALLY as bad as we're being told why aren't the doors of Congress being locked with all the reps inside until a bill is passed?

Wall Street is holding Washington hostage, and Washington is holding Wall Street hostage. The American people are caught in the crossfire and I don't feel any Stockholm Syndrome for either side.

1. I don't know, but IMO all holidays are now canceled.
There will be no Christmas this year because the house Republicans stole it.

2. Work?
Their staff might but not the actual elected members themselves. Matter of fact the only thing they do work on the rest of the year is getting re-elected and fund raising.

Most of these fuckers never even read the bills they sign.

6. THIS American taxpayer would like a solution
Between my small stock investments tanking, my Wachovia accounts, my home equity line of credit which will now cost me more, my credit cards which will now cost me more AND my small business which I am trying to save, I think maybe a solution should be reached.

I'm sure I'm not the only one on DU.

7. Is the Jewish New Year religious?
How is the lunar Jewish New Year any different from the Chinese New Year? If anything the Asian-American members of Congress should sue. Congress was in session Febuary 7th 2008.

This country and its documents have always used the Gregorian calendar which itself is an improvement on the Juilian.

More Abrahamic bullshit if you ask me.

8. Yes it is - which is why it starts a period called the High Holy Days
It ends at Yom Kippur.

If a Republican made such a mindless question, what would you say?

9. The work of the people must be done
I'm sure a forgiving G-d would understand.
