So Who Did Sen Specter FIRE in His Office For Slipping In The USAtty Loophole?
He said he did not know about it, but that a staff member put it in the reauthorization of the Patriot Act bill without his knowledge.

I would imagine anyone of would be fired immediately if we did such a thing.

But so far, no one has been identified or fired because of it. Or did I miss something?

Obviously the WH was intent on using this power to fire US Attorneys and replace them with their choices without Congressional confirmation.

Why has Specter not been put on the 'hotseat?"

1. Ah, there you go expecting honesty and accountability.
And you're expecting it from a republican. What were you thinking? :P

4. I believe the answer to that one is NO....
I believe it was not discovered until after it had been signed by Bush.

3. Specter already said it was a mistake, and he would support reversing it...
... but that is totally separate and apart from the issue of whether the staff member engaging in this dastardly deed should be identified, and punished(ie. fired).

If there are no consequences for those responsible, it is the same thing as condoning it.

5. Thom Hartman touched on it briefly
the background is that this staff member was hired by Spector at the urging of the White House to show "loyalty"... Spector's arm got twisted

the staff member is also connected to Clarance Thomas (SCOTUS)

7. ...And this staff member remains on Specter's staff today?
Sounds like Specter has a 'political officer' from the WHite House on his staff, who he cannot fire or punish.

This is truly despicable.

That individual needs to be identified and 'outed' publicly. THen there needs to be a special subpoena prepared for them to appear and testify about their actions and who ordered it.

11. So which is it? Figaro Leafton or Michael O'Neill? Sen. Specter help us out...
It just goes to show that the MSM is basically dead if they still do not have the details about this matter.

WHy are there not calls for him to be fired? Why has Specter not been criticized for doing nothing once he found out?

12. There seems to be a lot of staff members doing things without peoples' knowledge in DC
>Why has Specter not been put on the 'hotseat?"

Because he's very deft at making himself look "less guilty" than the rest.

14. So Does It Not Appear That Specter CANNOT FIRE this staff member?
He was a WHite House plant. Could it not be any more obvious?

Either that, or Specter agrees with what was done since he has taken no action against the offending staff member.

16. Does Anyone Know Anything More About This Than It Happened...
... and no one has been fired or punished?

And why is this not a 'front burner' issue with the PRESS????
