McCain Desperately Begs His Party This Morning: "We need a deal. We need a deal. We need a deal."
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 10:34 AM by bigtree
ABC News' Jonathan Karl Reports: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/mccain-to-house.html

John McCain made an urgent appeal to House Republicans at their 9:30 leadership meeting Friday morning.

A senior House GOP leadership aide involved in the negotiations described McCain's message this way, "We need a deal. We need a deal. We need a deal!"

Friday's debate is clearly a factor in the urgency of McCain's appeal: "As long as we have the broad framework of a deal he can go to the debate and claim he did his job."

After the meeting, Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., and House Republican Whip Roy Blunt were dispatched to resume negotiations with House Democrats.

House Republicans seem poised to cave on this (says one House Republican, "We don't want to be seen as obstructionists"), although they have been assured that some of their ideas can be incorporated into the final deal.

So, it looks like McCain is desperate to debate tonight, despite his public bravado that he's prepared to skip out.

1. He hasn't done shit and his own party has admitted this
Obama needs to call him on this hard tonight if he starts patting himself on the back.

3. McLiar with egg on his face
He is now going to debate and there is still no deal in place. He's utterly pathetic. His big gamble failed. He was not able to be the white knight he was trying to be.

4. He repeats himself a lot.
I think he thinks it is being more forceful, but it doesn't work for me. He will probably to it tonight too.

7. of course he's desperate. he put himself between a rock and a hard place...
the idiot knows full well he can't really back out of the debate so he's desperately trying to have one sewn up before tonight so he doesn't look like the complete ass that he is when he does show up.
