This Sunday, 35 Religious Leaders Will Break the Law and Endorse Politicians

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wow. I hope these pastors don't jeopardize the tax-exempts status that churches have by being stupid.

Didn't the bible predict something about a war between religion and Government as a sign of a start of armageddon?

just a thought

5. Unless it's the Church of Wesley Snipes
the IRS isn't going to be too active in pursuing this.

15. Snipes was recently convicted of Tax Evasion
Tax evasion or something similar anyway. They said he didn't pay taxes on several hundred thousand in income.

The point is the IRS goes after the targets they choose, not the ones they should. Like politically activist churches.

3. I suggest filling the church lawns with political advocacy signs.
Why be half-hearted? "My name is Jesus and I endorse this ad."

4. my granddaughter is a
born again christian. said her church doesn't tell them who to vote for. however, the pastor did say that neither obama or McCain could fix our problems. they have to pray to god for that.

6. How does her Church know what God will do
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 06:50 PM by Heather MC
God just might jump in this mix and empower one of these men to fix this mess

also the bible says to pray for those in Authority, Why would God direct his believers to pray for those in Authority if it wouldn't help

No offense to your granddaughter but I would leave that church if I heard that

7. well grandma is an atheist,
so i wouldn't go near a church. granddaughter is voting for obama. we think her husband is too, but he's a little concerned about pro-choice and gay rights, but he's also concerned about health care.

actually her church seems "mild" compared to some i've heard about.

9. Go Grandma, I use to subscribe to the Agnostic view of life
but I had a chance to come into my own beliefs
but I recently left my church of almost 10 years because the Pastor said
"If you are on the Helps Minstry, we are going to check your tithing record and if you are not tithing enough or consistantly then you can't be on the helps ministry."
IT was as if he said you don't give enough to volunteer at this church.

It burned my ears
my DH and I left that moment and never returned. It was enough to shake my belief. but fortunately I understand, humans can screw up a message, and that was not a true representation of God.

SO now we attend a small home church, we eat, we pray, we sing, we read the bible, we discuss our lives and not one person is in control, we all share equally. I LOVE IT!

10. i was raised roman catholic.
i went to catholic school. i stopped going to church when my mom stopped forcing me to go. i still considered myself a christian until my mid-20s.

i used to call myself an agnostic, but about a year ago i realized that i'm an atheist. it can be a difficult thing to admit, but i'm okay with it now.

i respect other people's right to worship (or not) as they choose. i'm glad you found a church that you're comfortable with.

11. I was raised Jehovah's Witness
I stopped going the moment I got a car and could be gone from the house before each meeting

I respect people's choice as well, I came to my decision on my own not becaue someone handed me a pamphlet, or forced me. That's why I hate bible thumping repukes who try to decide what everyone else should or should not do.

In the end I have to live in my own skin with my own decisions, it's not for someone else to decide for me. Unless they want to put their money where their mouth is.

ie if you don't like my shoes buy me new ones

13. You think this Sunday is bad, just wait for Sunday, November 2
If you can suppress the urge to projectile vomit long enough, watch the Televangelist programs on the Sunday before the election. I did in 2004, and it was ..... uh, an experience. :puke:
