Bailout Bill - Suggested Action and Wording
Suggest that we each contact our senators and representatives today. This is not something that can wait as they are writing the final draft as we speak.

I have sent (faxed) my concern to my senators and representatives this morning - as well as Senator Dodd and soon Senator Schumer in their Washington offices. Would welcome names of others working on this bill to fax/email them this afternoon.

If this bill has to happen and happen quickly, I recommend that we ask that there be a time limit to this action - to be reviewed by congress in 60-90 days. The new congress and the new president will most likely have more information on how best to resolve this in January.

AND, no matter what, there needs to be congressional committee oversight of any and all actions taken by the Treasury Secretary - or at least any action taken requiring monies in excess of a given amount. And if an emergency arises, that there be a short list of bi-partisan congressional leaders from both the House and the Senate who will review the suggested action and determine if it is indeed in the best of the American taxpayers to follow thru on said action.

Get going people. This is worthy of spending an hour of your time today.

1. I sent the TPM demands to my 3 congresscritters this morning...
1) Combating asset bubbles must be one of the Fed’s key responsibilities.
2) The government should impose a modest financial transactions tax, comparable to the one in the United Kingdom. This can both restrain excessive trading and raise more than $100 billion a year in revenue.
3) Regulatory agencies should require that potentially tradable assets (e.g. credit default swaps) actually be traded on exchanges.
4) There should be strict limits on leverage for all regulated financial institutions.
5) Fannie and Freddie should remain fully public institutions, returning them to a status comparable to Fannie’s prior to its privatization in 1968.
6) The Fed should be restructured so that all the key decision makers (e.g. the open market committee) are appointed by democratically elected officials. Its responsibility is to manage the economy in the interest of the general public, not the financial sector.

7. Even sending that link on via email to congress critters
would be helpful. When I have gotten thru to my senators and reps, its amazes me what they do NOT see or know. As they are composing this today, we have a window to help influence them.

Again, these are excellent points suggested at this link. Thank you for posting.

10. We can make that true only if we make our
voices heard. And I think this bailout bill is one of their last nails in our coffin. I think it is vitally important that our senators and reps know we do not support this bill without severe reservations.

13. your name...
"saylavee" reminds me of a French phrase "such is life."
however,
"would a rose not smell as sweet by any other name?"

D'après vous, quel est le sens de la vie?

I'll make time to address this important matter in a little while. Thanks for ALL you do

15. Good!
rosesaylavee is a play on words first played with by the artist Marcel du Champ - so you are right to play around them too. :)

17. I only have one question...
After World War I was declared in 1914, with his brothers and many friends in military service and himself exempted, Paris felt uncomfortable to Duchamp. He decided to emigrate to the then neutral United States. To his surprise he found he was a celebrity when he arrived in New York in 1915 where he quickly befriended art patron Katherine Dreier and artist Man Ray. Duchamp's circle also included art patrons Louise and Walter Conrad Arensberg, actress and artist Beatrice Wood and his friend Francis Picabia, as well as other avant-garde figures. Though he spoke little English in the course of supporting himself by giving French lessons and some library work, he quickly learned the language.

How could Paris make ANYONE feel uncomfortable?

18. Ha!
I was going to say something smart alecky but my brain is too tired. Long day!

I would think that a young man of draft age walking around when so many thousands of young men were being slaughtered made him a bit of a social pariah in Paris. I can remember my mother talking about 4Fs in WW2 - she had a friend who wasn't fit for serving but it wasn't physically obvious and he went thru hell as everyone wanted to know what he did to get out serving his country. If Duchamp came over here - we didn't get into the WW1 until much later than our European allies - so it would have been much easier to be his age and not be at war over here.

Or that is my best guess.

Your words bring Rapture to my lap-top.
are you familiar with the relationship between the New York City based dance/ music group iiO, originally called "Vaiio?" That name was altered to prevent legal complications arising from a pending lawsuit by Sony. Rights were violated because that name obviously infringed on their brand-name for a laptop called "VAIO."
Dare we pursue this further?
Do you support funding for VA Hospitals

11. The letter I sent
I am outraged that the government would seek to pass a bill that contains the words "Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

I respectfully request that you do everything in your power to prevent passage of that bill.

A clearer example of treason I cannot imagine.

Your leadership is required to hang the writer and supporters of that wording out to dry. My outrage needs to be reflected in every speech you make until that wording is removed.

Your political legacy depends on how YOU respond to this power grab on our behalf. We WILL remember.

I agree 100%. I woke up to this and have been sending emails and faxes out whoever I think can make a difference with this today.

Today is the day to act on this - not tomorrow as this bill will be on that stupid bastard's desk by the afternoon.

14. Tell them this!
Look if this is truly about Businesses and Future Homeowners being able to get loans then Start a new agency that will loan the money to those who need it if they qualify instead of giving it to Businesses that have managed poorly. Since we now own Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac why not make Fannie Mae for homes and Freddie Mac for businesses and those two use the TRILLION DOLLARS for loans. No BAILOUTS for Businesses. Loans Yes Bailouts NO if they qualify!!!!!!!. BAILOUT HOMEOWNERS that need the help if they qualify ONLY. You got to think faster than these crooks people!!!!
