Please let's give some credit to Naomi Klein
Edited on Sun Sep-21-08 12:01 PM by vicman
All that's happening now was clearly spelled out in her book, "The Shock Doctrine."

It's here, it's now, and it's real!

Why do you think BushCo DEMANDS no accountability?

Here we go and our Democrats are lining up, falling all over each other, pissing their pants/skirts to give the BEST ADMINISTRATION EVER whatever they want.

We are SOOOO fucked.

Happy April 15th, 2009..........

6. Yep.
We saw this movie before. The Shock Doctrine is a history book ...and history does repeat ...over and over and over.

When you make mistake, and make money doing it....plan on making that mistake over and over again.

12. A lesson for progressives that economics (theory/reality) should be the first thing to focus on.
Most people would laugh at me if I say that Materialism and Economics is and always should be the core focus of any "progressive" person...but its true. It might sound like tired
Marxism-Leninism but

Subprime and CDO's have been the focus of Financial news for more than a year or two now. In Manufacturing Consent (late 90s!) it was suggested that
of all the "news" out there, we should take financial news as being the most clear, since the wealthy/invested pay for REAL information, and their
concerns and issues are what ultimately drives news "downstream"

I started taking financial news seroiusly last year, and have never had enough money in my entire 15 years of working to invest or set aside. It is
confusing to read those papers (FT, Barrons ) but it is REAL NEWS. After a year of reading this stuff, it is still incredibly confusing to
me. As much as people hate academic-speak, financial journalism blows the rate of neology out of the fucking water. It is a headache to get your mind
around all the terms and rhetoric they use, but its worth it. Reading fianical papers and theory is great because the little pieces of information
that conveniently slip past the local/cable news people are often of much more importance than they realize.

Everything else we consider to be "news", although it is stunning in its size and inanity, is basically epiphenomenon.

I hope people take economics more seriously going forward. Progressives will not be able to acheive anything without money. There will be no spontaneous uprising that will magically fix anything, in fact, a spontaneous uprising in this country can and only will be counter to all progressive ideas at this stage.

Sorry for the long reply.

Naomi deserves credit. So does Adam Curtis the old tired cable news cliches of hippies and fatcats and being more serious...

We must be vewwy, vewwy quiet

Besides, John Kerry's crack team of lawyers is just about to make the case for questioning the 2004 vote counting in Ohio. Should be any minute now. Don't want to spoil things, do you?
