Oh yeah, they've learned their lesson. Unbelievable.

I have good credit. I don't have great credit, but I have good credit. If I fell for this shit and accepted their offers my credit scores would be lowered. More importantly, if I fell for this shit and started using the cards and got up to the limits they're offering, I wouldn't be able to pay them off.

They haven't learned shit.

1. I actually have bad credit and they are still sending the damn things.
And they want to blame us for this mess?

11. I went bankrupt last year
(small buisness failure which sucked down my house and everything with it) and they still send that shit to me.

I had no credit cards until 10 years ago and I have decided to never have one again. They have gotten so outrageously predatory (yeah, that means you WAMU, swallowing up those smaller companies and jacking the fees and penalties so people could never actually pay the damn things off...). Used to be a time when charging 30% interest was a crime reserved for loansharks.

It is also crimianal how much paper, plastic and packaging is consumed in their attempts to troll for further victims. I try to recycle what I can, But I'm sure literally tons of that shit is going into landfills every year.

17. pre paid envelopes.
I tear off my return address and any identifiers and shove everything else in the prepaid envelopes and send it back.

I have a brother who got so mad he collected enough junk mail from his neighbors and acquaintances to fill up an empty copy paper case. The thing weighed 32 pounds. He taped the prepaid envelope on their and took it to the post office - which surprising did accept it.

Dear bro says next time he's going over to a friend's - who has a junk car in the driveway - pull off some small but heavy part - and include that next time.

4. Interesting.....
I signed up with them a long time ago -- I still get catalogs and I still get the credit card offers. I finally took to calling the catalogue companies myself and telling them to remove me from their lists. I do think the number of catalogues has decreased somewhat though.

13. donotmail.org has some good info on getting off lists
as well as a tool that will pre-enter your info on letters to mail get off bulk mailing lists and info on those that you can opt-out of with a phone call.

Also, be sure and sign their petition to create a nation 'Do Not Mail' list similar to the existing 'Do Not Call' one.

3. I am in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy,
but I still receive pre-approved credit card offers. I just tear them up into little pieces and mail them back in their postage-paid envelopes.

5. I am in chapter 13 bankruptcy too and I got one of those
yesterday. I can use my bank debit card for almost everything, including airline tickets, but not for car rental! That is the only reason I would want another credit card from those prick banks!

19. I Haven't Had Any Problems Renting Cars Without A Credit Card
Most of the agencies have policies allowing for debit cards. I have done without one for over 10 years now and have sworn to never get one again.

7. BOFA had to send me replacement cards because out # was compromised so while
i'm on the phone with them they had a "Great offer for you Kim!" so the offer was another MC with a credit of $55,000. I said no way and then asked the rep if he thought that was a good idea in this economy and he said "Well you have great credit" yeah, so what?

10. But you could have MORE debt! What's wrong with you?
You could buy one of those foreclosures with that credit line.

12. it's nuts though right? I almost didn't believe what i was hearing. i've had the mc
since 1988 issued from MBNA and i never, ever had a problem but then BOFA hoovered them up and in the past year and half they've had to issue me new cards twice because our numbers were compromised. BOFA also has had to send me new debit cards 3 times in the past 5 years because of the same problem so i'm thinking of switching over to a credit union were there is still logic.

15. Now THAT's nuts.
Two cc breaches and three debit cards? I have heard that BofA had breaches but that's ridiculous.

8. I get a new credit card offer nearly every week. The interesting thing is my credit score.
I have been out of work since May and in these last 4 months my credit score has risen 40 points to 765. I don't get it.

9. I got the exact same offer two days in a row from the same bank
And it's a corporation (HSBC) that I told, in very explicit terms, that I was not interested in ever doing business with again. It's a shame they waste the trees sending me their junk mail, because it goes directly from the mailbox to the shredder.

16. I never get credit card offers in the mail
I have an excellent credit score, but I don't use credit cards at all. I have two, one with each parents for if they're sick or they need me to pick up something for them. So, technically I have two credit cards (because my name's on them as well), but I don't use them.

I prefer the cash only life. :)

18. I probably get 10+ of those a week.
On a related note, my Citicorp/Sears card is being closed due to inactivity. That one's a first.
