So John McCain is now John Edwards?
The Mighty Morphin Maverick is now the Peoples Populist? My God his speech in Michigan was stolen lock stock and barrel from John Edwards. Now all of a sudden McInsane gives a rat's ass about the workers and wants to stand up to Wall Street? I really do have to give him credit for the enormous size of his cajones trying to pass this off as sincere.

He really thinks he is going to get away with trying to sneak out the back door; around the front, screaming "throw the bums out".

1. He's been thrown WAY off message by Obama & the financial collapse.
He's grasping for a theme with just 50 days to go (or so).

3. I agree
And I think that people will be able to tell. You can't have a major ideological shift in such a short time. It's not possible or permissible. Thankfully they are arguing on Obama's terms right now.

McCain overreached by lying so much over the last 2-3 weeks. He's paying for that now too.

5. And when he grasps and flails and squirms...
A savvy, countervailing campaign should be able to wind his guts up on a garden hose reel. And all the 527 groups working for him on the side, in the bargain.

It is time for the Obama campaign to get mean. Real mean. Nasty. On'ry. Vile, if necessary.

11. We don't have to do vile. All we have to do is tell the truth. That will suffice.

10. Did he have a message before?
My impression of McCain's message was "straight talk express....mumble mumble....POW!!.....mumble mumble.....Palin!.....mumble mumble.....temper tantrum....."

6. He finds an audience of utter imbeciles and peddles pure horse manure. They chow down.
Yes ... such an audience can be found here, as it can in almost ANY state. The autoworkers in Michigan have, for GENERATIONS, been sold the bill of goods that "what's good for General Motors is good for America." Once upon a time, General Motors was actually a very socially responsible company - acknowledging that their obligations was FIRST to their workers, second to their community, and third to their shareholders. Then the bean-counters and arbitrage-minded took over ... people with NO OPERATIONAL experience.

But this is ALSO the state that remembers the Battle At The Overpass ... and many are still committed to organized labor and the primacy of the working class. (It's too bad that many of them are outright bigots.)

8. I am actually confused for once on McCain himself.
Is he really that a good an actor or has he really become so senile that he believes the crap he has spewed since the convention? I am starting to think that he has begun to believe his own nonsense.

9. He's a puppet. He spews the crap he's fed. He knows NOTHING about the technicalities.
He's been handing the crooks on Wall Street a "Get Out Of Jail FREE!" card for his ENTIRE time in the Senate. He listens to Phil Gramm, fer crissakes! Phil and Wendy Gramm should be jailed.
