McCain's campaign says he invented the internets
. . .not really, but close.

McCain Advisor Credits Candidate For Helping Create Blackberry

In a comment reminiscent of Al Gore's 1999 statement that he "took the initiative in creating the Internet" during his time in Congress, John McCain economic advisor Douglas Holtz-Eakin this morning suggested that McCain deserves credit for helping create the handheld communications device known as the BlackBerry.

"He did this," Holtz-Eakin, holding up his BlackBerry, said to reporters after being asked what McCain did as Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee that led him to a better understanding of financial markets, Politico reports.

Added Holtz-Eakin: "Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

The Obama campaign has already seized on the comment. It sent the Politico report around to reporters this morning with the only this editorial comment: "um, what?"

4. Another Obama response and a McCain RETRACTION (lies and calls it a joke)
Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 11:04 AM by bigtree
Obama Camp: "If John McCain hadn’t said that ‘the fundamentals of our economy are strong’ on the day of one of our nation’s worst financial crises, the claim that he invented the BlackBerry would have been the most preposterous thing said all week."

John McCain's campaign is moving swiftly to disavow a claim this morning by economic adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin that, as chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, the senator helped create the BlackBerry.

Matt McDonald, a top McCain aide, said the candidate "laughed" upon hearing Holtz-Eakin's claim.

"He would not claim to be the inventor or anything, much less the BlackBerry," McDonald said. "This was obviously a boneheaded joke by a staffer," McDonald said.

5. What's amazing about the McCain Campaign is not that they are lying
But how stupidly they are lying. I mean have they just determined that the American are so stupid that there's no point in trying to hide their lies? Or do they think they have the election sewn up thanks to voting fraud?

6. Honestly, John McCain is pathetic
this of course is in response that he doesn't use email.

Perhaps someone should 'hang' his advisor because he is causing economic strife around the world.
