Calculating Cheney's base: 18% approval rating
Edited on Tue Mar-13-07 09:54 AM by ProSense
This correlation is probably accurate:

Poll: Cheney's Approval Rating Sinks To 18 Percent; Bush At 34%

By Greg Sargent | bio

The big New York Times poll we posted below has a bunch of interesting numbers that we'll be checking out today. For now, here's a real doozy: Dick Cheney's approval rating is all of 18 percent. Our keen math skills indicate that this translates into less than one in five people viewing the Veep favorably. That's down from 21% a month or so ago.

Meanwhile, President Bush's approval rating in the new poll has edged up to 34% from 29% a month ago.

Cheney's approval at 18% and the same percentage wants Libby pardoned:

Note to Andrea Mitchell: 18% ≠ Most Americans

By: SilentPatriot on Monday, March 12th, 2007 at 4:52 PM - PDT

On Monday's Hardball, Andrea Mitchell said this about how the Bush administration may handle any forthcoming subpoenas in the wake of the the Libby verdict:

"They're going to try to really tamp this down and appeal to the polling which indicates that most people think, in fact, that he should be pardoned. Scooter Libby should be pardoned."

In "fact," huh? There's one slight problem; only a whopping 18% of Americans support a Libby Pardon. (CNN Poll .pdf)

1. That 18% approval rating for Cheney is really about 12% ....
Pick any despicable character in US History and you will find there is some misguided group of people who would view them favorably at close to the same level as Cheney's approval rating.

You can bet his calendar is not filled to appear with candidates running for reelection.

I think every Republican candidate running for office should have a life-size cutout of Bush and CHeney in the background. Can you imagine the candidate's polling numbers with that kind of ad?

2. Andrea Mitchell is a whore. The shit that comes out of this
woman's mouth is not to be believed. Was watching Hardball yesterday, and she said that Chuck Hagel cannot possibly be an authentic Republican, despite all of his other Repub/conservative creds, because he is against the Iraq war. How's that for sticking to GOP talking points?

3. I thought that 18% was two years ago
Surely he hasn't stayed that high for two years, I would think it's approaching single digits by now.
