"Million Doors for Peace" Did anyone else get this?
http://www.milliondoorsforpeace.org/whatisthis.php

I love this idea but am perplexed that they would do it 6 weeks before a presidential election.

They want people to knock on doors and get signatures on a petition to bring the troops home within a year. Great way to get to know their neighbors and get a lot of signatures. And if course I support the cause. But everyone I know who would be interested is already booked solid, either registering voters or canvassing for candidates.

Is this more disconnect from the left or is there a logical reason for the timing?

1. I like the timing.
Both Obama (at least 16 months) and McCain ( one hundred years) want to keep things going in Iraq.

Personally, I think the $12 billion a month the occupations cost is a bit (:sarcasm:) excessive, as is the $3+ trillion already spent on these invasions and occupations.

Make Iraq an issue. Make $12 billion a month an issue. Make $3+ trillion an issue.

2. I am helping to organize canvassing for local candidates
The war is not relevant because it is a national issue. I also don't know if my state rep and state senate candidates want us to discuss the war with the people we are canvassing. We are answering questions about school financing and roads, etc.
