What is wrong with MSNBC Crazy Janet with her husband and 5 children in Galveston.....
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 08:37 PM by RollWithIt
I'm not kidding. She says she's got 5 kids and she's standing on a storm wall in Galveston that is about to be covered by 15 feet of water. You could literally see pieces of wood flying behind her while she joked about "lying" about the danger on the air. She had to move forward at least 30 feet during the segment.

I know, sounds like Palin, just a bizarre segment.

1. Don't worry...
The San Louis Resort is a HUGE hotel. That is by far the safest place in Galveston. She and her family will be fine.

4. Also...
not only is it a huge hotel, it is elevated probably 30-40 feet above the Seawall. I'd say if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floor of that hotel, you will be just fine. I don't even think the first floor will get flooded. However, the higher up you go the more wind damage you will deal with. The hotel is around 20 stories tall I think. I've stayed there before.

3. Ya, I edited....
That was just a really bizarre thing. She's standing out in at least 70 mph winds less than 20 feet from the storm wall.

8. She was tied with a rope, though, wasn't she?
My mom called to tell me about it.

13. Yes, very clearly.... woman is nuts!
I checked into her story and she is standing at the highest point on Galveston Island. There is a rock wall behind the sea wall. So sea wall 10 feet. Rock wall 20 feet. Hotal base at 25 feet. If the first floor of that hotel goes underwater that means everyone else on Galveston Island is dead or dying if they're not above 10 feet.

6. Thank you so much. After the Palin's wolf slaughter video, that was quite the distraction.

10. Falling debris killed two people in our little city five years ago
after Claudette. That's a major reason not to be outside in a hurricane. The winds are strong enough to make the tiniest thing lethal. Janet is tempting fate by hanging out in that wind for so long, IMO.

12. I still wouldn't want to be there!
When Camille hit, an entire apartment complex disappeared.

There will be glass flying and God knows what else.

Hopefully it will hold up, but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it.
