1. i don't get it
seems like most any other headline (and i say this as a former reporter/copy editor)...i must be missing something, or must just be unfamiliar with the canadian news style...

2. I love the fact that we can access CBC News from across the river in Windsor....
.... but hipness is not the first thing I think of when I think CBC, "The Hour" notwithstanding.

4. The CBC tried 'hip'
'jPod' was the best series they've aired in years, IMHO. Of course, being on CBC, hardly anyone watched it, so it lasted only one season.

Out on DVD this week, yay.

3. What's so sad about Inuvik ...
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 08:29 PM by Newsjock
... is how TV has transformed "hip-hop culture" to this remote arctic outpost.

I've been to Inuvik, and I was shocked at how many lil' gangbanger-wannabes were cruising the streets at all hours of the day and (fully-lit in summer) night. They certainly didn't all decide to be like that on their own.

Inuvik has recurring problems with serious vandalism, including $50,000 of damage at the local school in July.

6. I don't know that you can blame vandalism on "hip-hop culture".....
.... assholes will be assholes no matter how they dress or what they listen to.

12. As funny as that is...
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 12:43 AM by HEyHEY
It was written by someone who really has no idea how rough some Canadian cities are. Edmonton? Hit white ave at closing and try not to get your ass kicked... Winnipeg? Yeah, walk around the North Side after dark... should I even bother about Vancouver's Downtown eastside (The poorest postal code in North America) or Regent Park in Toronto (The largest housing proeject in North America)? Somehow Canada has done a GREAT job of hiding this shit.
