Letterman audience boos Palin
Letterman's doing his monologue.

He segues over to the subject of Puckhead: "So, do you like that Sarah Palin?" To which there is an embarrassingly small smattering of applause and a lot of boos.

Unscientific, but his audience is pretty 'heartland' with lots of people in silly tee shirts holding the unused half of a roundtrip ticket from/to Peoria.

12. this man stays calm and says such great things in response to
their crap - just a few times have I seen him get long winded in explaining - the answers need to be one liners so they are picked up by media and so the GOP can understand what was said

13. selection fallacy. letterman's in manhattan.
godfearin' chrisjins from th'heartland would never visit that heathen hellhole island.

they'll send their kids to iraq for attacking it, but they'd never let 'em visit that den of iniquity.

14. Manhattan draws tourists from all over the world...
Dave is from Indiana and LOTS of heartlander tourists make a point to check his show when they are in town. Not your average ain't-never-been-more'n-five-mile-from-home types, but not everyone in the middle is an idiot. Red states aren't ALL red.

15. yes...i'm from the midwest myself....
my point was simply that dave's studio audience is not very representative of thing in particular.

of course his appeal extends to a portion of places like indiana. it's just that that doesn't shed much light on the whole of that state, the midwest, the heartland, or whatever.

it probably does shed some light on how bloomington feels :) but not the whole state.
