GOP got their wish when Keith Olbermann was demoted, and we are the lesser for it
Submitted by Chad on Tue, 09/09/2008 - 11:18am. Analysis

The second definition of incendiary, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is "a person who excites factions, quarrels, or sedition: agitator" The New York Times defines incendiary as Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.

Given that the first definition involves arson, the word choice is very powerful. And make no mistake, the word was used in the headline AND the story.

In the land of pundits, ranking them in terms of being incendiary, Matthews would come in 38th and Olbermann 54th. Several in talk radio, virtually everyone at FOX "News" Channel and a significant handful of on-air CNN employees would rank far above these two.

Rebel-rouser might be a way to describe Olbermann and brash and annoying describes Matthews. But incendiary?

1. This is a TRULY idiotic rant...(not you personally, this entire ongoing disucussion)

True or false: Keith Olbermann is still on MSNBC every weekday night...TRUE

True or false: Keith Olbermann will appear and opine during special events (debate, election night) coverage...TRUE

The only thing he won't do is HOST, which boils down to reporting the headlines every other network is reporting, introducing the pundits and analyists which are always picked by the show producers, rather than him, and throwing out questions for other people to talk about.

3. I doubt they would allow Hannity or O'Really host a Debate either.
Make no mistake Olberman is quite Partisan and he is the first to acknowlege that fact, but I bet Matthews is a little hurt by the accusation.

"virtually everyone at FOX "News" Channel and a significant handful of on-air CNN employees would rank far above these two" in terms of being "incendiary".

and I would bet they also will not be doing election-day coverage or hosting a debate for MS-NBC.

5. In a way, they did.
So called reporters are acting in the interests of the republican party in most media. Watch the questioning at the debates.
