Sarah Palin, the pastor and the prophecy: judgment day is not far away
(snip)
At the Wasilla Assembly of God Church, Sarah Palins former pastor sees powerful signs that the end of the world is nigh.

Pastor Ed Kalnins cites conflict in the Middle East, Americas dependence on foreign oil and the depletion of energy reserves as evidence that storm clouds are gathering. He told The Times: Scripture specifically mentions oil instability as a sign of the Rapture. Were seeing more and more oil wars. The contractions of the fulfilment of prophecies are getting tighter and tighter.

He declined to set an exact date for the Rapture, or the End of Days the belief in a time when Jesus will return, raising up believers to Heaven and leaving the wicked to be ruled by the Antichrist but hopes it will be in his lifetime. Im looking out the window and I can see its going to rain, he said. Im just looking at the turmoil of the world, Iraq, other places everywhere people are fighting against Christ.

Since Mrs Palins nomination as John McCains Republican running-mate 11 days ago, her social and religious beliefs have become subjected to intense scrutiny. As a supporter of the teaching of Creationism in schools, an opponent of abortion even in cases of rape or incest and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, she threatens to reopen the culture war that has scarred American politics for a quarter of a century.

(snip)
The service began with 40 minutes of song. Teenagers with ponytails and bandanas gathered at the front of the stage, dancing and swaying in time. Their eyes screwed tightly shut and their arms lifted towards the ceiling, some worshippers started speaking and singing unintelligibly. Pastor Ed said afterwards that they had been speaking in tongues, a common part of the churchs services.

And then there's this:

Weird Theology in Wasilla: A Look Inside Sarah Palin's Pentecostal Church

On June 8, 2008 Palin was publicly blessed, with the "laying on of hands" before six thousand Wasilla area church members, by Head Wasilla Assembly of God Pastor Ed Kalnins and on the same day both Kalnins and Palin described, at a "Masters Commission" ceremony at the Wasilla Assembly of God church, how she had been blessed prior to winning the Alaska governorship by an African cleric known for driving the "spirit of witchcraft" out of a town in Kenya, after which town supposedly crime rates dropped "almost to zero."

Sarah Palin's churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same 'Spiritual Warfare' movement that was featured in the award winning movie, "Jesus Camp," which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin's churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation. The movement is training a young "Joel's Army" to take dominion over the United States and the world.

1. About this rapture thing...
isn't there a limited number of people that will be raptured? And what makes these people (like palin) think they're more special than that sweet little old man or woman that lives a few doors down that have been true christians in word and deed all their lives?

2. That's just it...
it indicates she's totally insane. If you haven't seen this documentary on her church, I highly recommend you do. Perhaps then people will perk up and realize what a dangerous situation this is. If you don't think the Dominionists are trying to take control of our government, then you've buried your head in the sand. These people are DANGEROUS and Sarah Palin is their trojan horse. Wake up people.

3. Oh I'm hearin' ya
I first became aware of re-constructionist/dominionists back in the early day of the boosh admin. Asscroft and his ilk scared the livin' crap outta me. I had no idea, at that time, there were still people living on this earth that were so extreme and archaic in their views as to be taken seriously by anybody much less by almost every republican on earth.

Hmm did I ever get an instant and rude awakening :wow:

I'll check out the Doc. you recommended and linked to. Thanks :hi:
