McCain painted a target on Palin.
I have not said a thing about Gov. Palin here because I had no real information on her. Now that I have heard her speech and read many articles about her I would like to share a few thoughts.

The GOP is turning flips over this unknown person from our least populous state. They hold up her position as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard. as vital, valuable experience in military policy but it counted as nothing when Bill Clinton ran. Would the democrats have countered criticism over his lack of military service with such an argument? Of course not because in the end it is a stupid answer to a meaningless question. Ask her how much she knows about the military and how it works. We can't because they have have her hidden away from the media. They are feverishly trying to give her a crash course in what the military does.

It may be weeks before she personally speaks to reporters again, in the meanwhile there will be countless talking heads telling us where she stands on the issues while she is reading the cliff notes version of basic civics and government.

If she was qualified to be VP she would have no need of people to talk for her.

I really don't care about her family troubles other than how they reflect on her grasp of how the government works. What little we know of her shows that she cares little for the rules when they stand in the way of what she wants.

We know that she has no patience with negotiation. Bush is the same way, rather than try to see all sides of a dispute he has continually bullied his way through foreign policy, making enemies of people who used to be friends. She will do nothing but make us more isolated from the international community. I am sure that a lot of people would like to ask her what her position is on the Russia/ Georgia conflict or Pakistan or many other things but where is she? She is locked away from us up there in Alaska with a world atlas trying to find these places on the map.

The GOP has continually attacked Obama's experience and that is to be expected. But any suggestion that we should handle Palin with kid gloves is wrong. With a Presidential candidate who has a good chance of not even making it through his first term the question of her qualifications is a vital one. She is letting herself be controlled and handled by the GOP in order to insure that her lack of experience does not come out and doom the campaign. Who will be controlling her if they should win? Who will be feeding her information if McCain should die in office? The same people who pull our current president's strings that's who.

I see her conservative christian ideals as a danger but they are not nearly as dangerous as her willingness to have her message controlled by people who have continually put their personal interests ahead of the people.

McCain painted a target on Palin and she turned around and let him do it. There is no Question too harsh for a person who may end up as our president.

1. I expect they're still trying to give her a crash course
on what it is the VPOTUS does. After all, she did ask.

The ninny.

Her pastor has already butted in. Oh, I can't wait. The wingnut snakehandlers have already started dancing for jeebus in the aisles. The sideshow hasn't even gotten warmed up.

Thank goodness Biden has already stated he has no qualms about going after her mano a wo-mano. Witty and snappy will be no substitute for substance and it is my hope that the American people will see that. Here's hopin' anyways.
