Okay, the Presidential candidates have been decided, now we need to
concentrate on getting Democrats re-elected in Congress and new Democrats elected into Republican held Congressional and Senate seats. We need a veto proof majority in both houses, especially the Senate so if the unthinkable happens and McCain/Palin are elected, they won't have any power to interfere with legislation put forth. He will then have to pull away from the extreme right and toward the center to get anything accomplished. By this time Sarah won't be important except for attending the funerals of heads of state.
"signing statements." Bush has proved that the "unitary executive" can do anything he/she wants, with the simple stroke of a pen. Having a large majority in Congress isn't enough any more.
2. Well, it will be harder with a Republican friendly Congress.
Also, getting a majority in Congress will also help Obama/Biden if elected so he can more easily turn back, without interference, the more nefarious actions of the past administration and Congress.
3. I agree that a Democratic Congress is necessary.
It isn't, however, sufficient. We need Obama/Biden in the White House and a strong Democratic majority in both houses if we're to have a hope of fixing the mess this country is in.
