So two people I know who are hard core repubs...
One I work with and the other my wife works with.

The one I work with told me after mclames speech, he's done with voting repub. He's tired of the same old song and dance. He's one of the few that sees that the nation is really in trouble and is going to vote for Obama.

Now the real earth shattering one is the guy my wife works with. He is not only a hard core rightwinger, but also a major atomic fundie.

After palin's speech, he told my wife that he was totally and completely embarrassed. Now he didn't say that he would vote for Obama, but he did say he certainly wasn't going to vote for mcinsane and caribou.

I live in texas, land of the brainless rightwingers.

So if people are changing here, I have real deep and profound hope for Obama.

Cheers!

5. I also know of two hardcore repubs in Texas voting for Obama
One actually signed up to work for the Obama campaign before the primaries. Once McCain selected Palin for VP, she went absolutely balistic...said it was an insult to women........let's hope there will be more backlash.

6. All I could say after that speech was...
:boring: huh...wha....

He couldn't put on a barnburner, so he had to talk about every fucking piece of straw in the shed.

I love the way they rushed Palin off the stage and into isolation afterward, by the way. This must have been in case anyone wanted to ask her any "improper" questions about her vast knowledge of the world she wants to rule or something...

7. I wish I could say the same; I'm getting a mixed bag in my area.

One girl I work with, an intelligent Loyola foreign affairs student who's a Democrat, told me that she was undecided, but that conversation took place during the Democratic primaries when Obama was only thought to be the apparent nominee. She was concerned about his safety. I'll have to touch base with her again, now that the convention is over & Biden is the VP choice.

For the hurricane we stayed with my husband's daughter & her husband on the North Shore, & the husband said he was voting for McCain because he was the lesser of two evils. I let it drop, considering the circumstances, but I couldn't resist giving him an incredulous facial expression, which I thought would get my point across without starting an argument. Frankly, they're too busy with their careers to take the time to evaluate what's really going on. When we were listening to the radio for hurricane developments, the husband wanted to listen to his "regular" station, which had backwoodsy, redneck personalities (one's nickname was "Sugarlips") & the flavor of conversation was pro-Rethug. That's where he gets his information while driving to & from work.

I live in an area with oil/gas/chemical industries that sustain our state's economy -- that's not my opinion; it's a fact -- & most people here are looking out for their own financial preservation, rather than concerning themselves with the overall picture. On the other hand -- & I don't know what to make of this -- I haven't seen any McCain or Obama signs in yards or on vehicles. So, whether or not the Rethug supporters in my area have finally seen the reality will not be known until the election results are in.

9. Just like Always. Anyone who actually WATCHES the events votes Dem. The spin-listeners vote GOP....

...because they've let someone else think for them.

15. Me too. A woman I'd never label intelligent or informed: It's her wallet.
The wallet voters are waking up.

Gramps is only keeping the idealogues: The wacko loonie fringe and the bigots. And, for the first time, I'm hearing alot of people openly talking politics, who used to keep quiet. The right winger blowhards used to hold court: They're out of sight, now. They're getting up and leaving the room, quietly. The Obama supporters are in charge, and are not editing or sensoring themselves. It's the Gramps haters who are in hiding.
