The more we pick on Palin, the more the rethugs will try and turn "the left" into the problem
It seems that almost every hour, we are getting some new and damaging revelation about Sarah Palin; at the same time, the rethugs seem hell bent on nominating her. Hypocricy and the RNC talking points about her "experience" run rampant and tonight she will be painted as the soccer mom extraordinaire, that all women can relate to.

We have Shrub ranting about the "angry left" and I saw a clip from Newt last night saying the MSM has been in a frenzy picking on Sarah.

My concern is with all our very rational and logical concerns about McBush's ridiculous choice, the wacko right will try and turn this into nothing but the left ganging up on Sarah Palin. They will try and draw out the sympathy vote for all it's worth.

I think the sharks smell blood in the water, and she will not escape the continued scrutiny - yet from a strategical standpoint, would we be better to lay off her a bit and let her sink herself? I don't want to see Tom Ridge brought on because the big, bad angry left chased Sarah, Bristol, and baby back to Alaska. :sarcasm:

6. True in the short term
but it is the long term that should also be considered.

You may wish that the GOP will shrivel up and die, but a look at history indicates that it is highly unlikely that will happen.

Instead the GOP will rebuild (with IMHO leaders like Palin, who we will make a martyr in the eyes of some) and come back.

Remember it was only 4 to 6 years ago that some said that we were going the way of the dodo bird.

Now look, we would do well to remember the recent and past history.

One of the reasons that the GOP treated us so badly while in power is because we had done it unto them first.

They got even, is this what we want in say 2012, 2016 or god forbid even 2010??

4. When has their bunch ever been able to admit
they made a mistake? They're going to cling to this blunder as long as they can, increasing blowback with every revelation about who she really is--and is not.

We're only just beginning to see it sink in to GOP women that so many capable and qualified women were passed over just to put bible Barbie on the ticket. It's taking some time, but they're really starting to wake up and realize there is little room for them in that party.

Unless bible Barbie is forced to answer the clue phone, and that doesn't seem to be one of her talents, she will cling to this until the bitter end. Unless she is the one to resign, the ticket will remain as it is.

considering Bush's base is what compromises the 'right'. I wonder why no one brings up the fact that John McCain stands up for nothing, and rolls over for anybody. He picks a VP on religious extremists say-so.

8. It's NOT a "Feeding Frenzy"...
...if the food is already broken up and floating ALL OVER THE FREAKIN' OCEAN in the FIRST place.

Palin is a walking In-box of indictments against herself and the republican party; in fact, if ANYTHING, the republicanized mainstream media is actually holding BACK all that is available for publication!

Palin should be in front of at LEAST three judges to answer criminal charges based on her actions as Governor, and an additional half-dozen indictments as a "public servant" BEFORE she stole the governor's office.

FEEDING FRENZY? Hell, the mainstream media is on a DIET with all this stuff floating around!!

10. IMHO -
If the "angry left" doesn't sink her, who will? The sycophant media? Just this morning, on my local AM mainstream news station, the news was about what a great choice for women this was, how this was going to push women forward, NOT ONE WORD about taliPalins views, and the reality that she would put women back 200 years.

Although, I do agree that if she does withdraw, we may get a more mainstream candidate, which may be harder to defeat in the general.

I think we need to be CAREFUL how we do it publicly, but honestly, are we talking blogs/forums here? Cuz they call for our deaths daily. If they want to go there, let's go. Game on.

apples to apples. We are NOT a journalism site here. This is a forum for Democrats and I damn well am going to talk about the things I'd talk about to another Dem here. I am not speaking for my party, so why lay this on us?

Here is what I just wrote on Digg about this topic, as they are all up in arms about some magazine and are going to boycot it because it donated to Obama and it criticized Palin:

TO REPUBLICANS WHO ARE OUTRAGED BY PALIN COVERAGE:

Go ahead and boycott, but when you do, ask yourself about your values. If you think this is an outrage, are you equally outraged by McCain donor Rupert Murdoch and his ownership of Fox news and the AP? Remember that Fox has called Michelle Obama the "baby mama" of Obama, inferring she is an unwed mother. Of course, that is not true, but using this same logic that now being an unwed mother makes you an American family, why is it being used as an insult by Fox? An untrue insult at that. It is the Dems who have been defending unwed mothers for years, not Republicans, and so it's hard to swallow this hypocritical outrage. You all called Jamie Spears a whore. Where were these concerns then? She's a good Christian.

Remember that O'Reilly has said all liberals deserve to die? Remember that McCain called Chelsea Clinton, when she was a teenager, the ugly daughter of Janet Reno and Hillary Clinton. Remember that your party has used lies and slander against Democrats and indeed, their own members when necessary, as evidenced in 2000 when Bush accused John McCain of fathering an illegitimate black baby. You'd never hear a Dem repeating such horrid things about McCain. That is so low, and it continues. You have accused Obama wrongly of being a Muslim when he is a Christian. You have accused him of not being a patriot, when in fact he is the essence of patriotism as shown in his applications of the constitution and his love of this country. You accused Viet Nam war vet John Kerry of allegedly "withholding and/or distortion of material facts" as to his own conduct during that war.", when he was a decorated hero. But now suddenly, John McCain doesn't have to show his same records and he uses his POW status as the get out of jail free card for every topic. Where are your standards and values? If this isn't hyporisy, what is? Where was the outrage for poor John Kerry, who served this country with honor! How dare you people get all high and mighty about this. It is an outrage.

Sarah Palin is not ready to lead this country. Choosing her for the votes was an irresponsible and reckless thing for McCain to do. In making this choice, he put politics ahead of country. She has the least experience of any VP in over 100 years, according to non-partisan Presidential scholars. If she had to step in today, would you feel safe?

... they're attacking us for having no ideas, or for not having the right ideas, or for stealing their ideas, or claiming to have invented the word "idea".

The GOP controls the media and believes this gives them license to define everyone.

32. as long as the Obama/Biden campaign keep their hands clean, it'll be okay
The Democratic candidates need to stay well clear of the public "vetting" of Gov. Sarah Palin. Her situation is toxic to any Democratic campaigner or party official, they should avoid discussing her specifically. Let the Republicans complain all they want about "the angry left", they do that anyway.

Their goal is to make Obama part of the "angry left", and if they succeed, that will be a problem for us all.

34. We need to remind people why we're angry
They could have knocked it out of the park by picking Romney, but instead they picked the governor of a small state, someone with no national stature, and didn't even bother to vet her.

I do think we need to spend less time on Palin. The total failure of Republican rule has not been addressed enough.

39.  "angry" will work against us in this campaign
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 12:34 AM by 0rganism
We need to re-caste our anger as "ready for change", "working for progress," or simply "hopeful" -- move toward a positive reference and expression of our emotions. That's why Sen. Obama got the nom, and it'll be how he gets the win, in the end. He simply can't afford to come across as angry, or the corporate media will be all over him with sticky stereotypes and cookie-cutter narratives. When he talks about some of the things Cheneybush have done to this country, I can tell there's some aggravation there, but it's backgrounded; it energizes him to change how things work.

Americans don't seem to be interested in being reminded, or hearing explanations, or even being patient with other peoples' anger. We're taught to value perceived results, tales of turning adversity around, and hearing a story about how great things are going to be. That's how empty suits like Cheneybush make it into power, we should respect that and use it to our advantage when possible.

I watched some of Palin's speech tonight, and if anyone's looking angry, it's her. She's a very nasty person, which plays real well to the freepish GOP base, but it will doom their ticket. Gov. Palin's weighing down the underpowered golf cart of McCain's floundering campaign with a forklift load of stinking baggage. Left mostly to her own devices, her presence will hurt them more than us.

The mayor's administration, has been one of contradiction, controversy and discord. While she will blame everyone but herself, we see mostly Sarah at the center of the problem." (Frongtiersman editorial, 2/7/97)
