If only the corporate media bothered to tell the simple truth instead of carrying the fascists' water.

Remember Bush on the segway?

4. Excellent!
I forwarded this to my bike ridin' dad - he's a few years older than Kerry (and and rides several mph slower), but he'll enjoy this as much as I did.

5. He shaved his legs?
Back when I could still cycle, I would have loved to race him up Angel Island. I shaved my legs, too!

6. Slipstream is a great team
Formed to combat doping by willing submitting and asking for move "vampires" (Cycling's term for the dope testers)

10. As another non-cyclist
unless you count a 4 mile loop around a lake. I think he may mean if you fall - you know like Bush did so many times, ending up usually with bruises and scrapes on his face.

(The idea of falling going 90 mph is beyond scary to me.)

11. Oh...from what I know of Kerry's athletic background he has extraordinary balance....
Edited on Wed Sep-03-08 12:44 PM by blm
I imagine that windsurfing, ice hockey, and soccer are all dependent on strong balance. I would also assume he has extraordinary control as he was an adept stunt pilot in his younger days.

12. True and from the article he was completely in control
I would get scared in a car at 9o mph!

There is one error in the article - he is 64, not 65. It was nice seeing that even on a bike ride, he was thinking of legislation and gathering expert information.

13. Cyclists seem more tuned to environmental issues than most groups. The author was pretty cynical
though, and on the lookout for phony pols. Too bad those who claim to be Democrats never bothered to learn about the best president we should have had.

14. No, it's what might happen if you fall off at 90 kph
Road rash is missing skin, ground off by asphalt or concrete moving by at high speed and the flesh left behind embedded with dirt and grit.

16. given his extraordinary sense of balance and love of speed, I'm not surprised
that he manages to stay upright.

20. of course... but, if someone hasn't fallen in quite some time, why should their
credibility be challenged? Especially someone with Kerry's acute sense of balance?

18. Great article
I have admired Senator Kerry since the 1960's hearings on the Vietnam war. He will always be one of my heros, and this country is the poorer for not "selecting" him in 2004 (I'll always remember that we ELECTED him).

Also, folks, that decent was at 90 kph: Kilometers per hour. 90 kph * 0.6 = 54 miles per hour. That's still wicked fast!

19. I agree, I remember the hearings too.
I always hated how everyone turned their backs on him after it was stolen in Ohio.

Great man.

21. Those Dems who turned their backs on the one lawmaker who has uncovered more govt. corruption
than any lawmaker in modern history, have no SENSE of what has gone on in this country the last 40 yrs.

If you take Kerry's work out of the last 40 yrs, Vietnam era, uncovering and exposing IranContra, BCCI and CIA drugrunning, NONE of that happening.....this nation would have been in full-on fascism by the mid 90s.
