working part time for BP? shouldn't we be more concerned about this, rather than her daughter's pregnancy?
Peace.

1. One caveat
Alaska pay rates are VERY high because the cost of living is very high.

That said, it does seem high even for that standard.

3. Oil
I had some guy say that Sarah is a 'big oil"
lady..."she'd be good for oil." Now because this
guy is my husbands new boss and I wasn't in a position to ask
I'll ask you guys. I know he's republican but what the heck
does that mean? How is she good for oil?

5. Oil field pay can be very high..
I know oil production workers making 20k/month every other month.

Fly to China, work on a platform for a month and fly home for a month off.

7. Sarah gets $125K/yr as governor; Todd made $93K last year
2. Who Pays The Bills? This is a question that resonates especially with subjects who are not already on the national scene.

Most people who have been prominent on the Washington stage already faced extensive disclosure requirements and have seen or weathered financial controversies at close range. People who suddenly spring to fame, by contrast, often are unprepared for the onslaught of skeptical questions about their finances and business relationships.

Recall how the glow of history-making that accompanied Democrat Geraldine Ferraro's selection as Walter Mondale's running mate soon was overtaken by a furor over husband John Zaccaro's business dealings.

Palin draws a $125,000 annual salary as governor. Her husband made $93,000 last year through his work in oil production for BP and as a fisherman.

8. Todd is like McCain in a way.. another kept boy-man
Between all the "commercial" fishin', and "professional" snowmobiling, and "part-time" foreign(BP)" Oil ...added to being handyman at the mansion & home-schoolin' & child care, it's hard for me to see how he;s much good at ANY of them..he probably blows more on his fishin' & snowmobiling than $93 K a year..

He's Mr Sarah..her consort/flunkey

14. Commercial fishing is huge in Alaska
Because it pays so well, even though it isn't year round and is very dangerous. It's also back-breakingly hard work.

Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 12:15 PM by Wilber_Stool
that this baby crap is a smoke screen for is that old Tod is allowed to sit in on state policy meetings. His name is also on some e-mails that she has refused to make public because of, wait for it, executive privilege.

edits because I never get it right the first time.

13. They pay isn't low for people on the north slope
You live in that kind of country, in those kinds of conditions, doing that kind of work....it pays well.

A commercial crab fisherman could make over 50k for a months work.
