Mole on a plane catches Dems Fowler and Spratt laughing about Gustav Timing
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 08:54 PM by RamboLiberal
Gotta watch this stuff Dems when in public with the proliferation of cell phone cameras. Yeah the irony is funny but the hurricane is not. And we all know Repukes would've laughed their ass off if a tornado had hit Denver especially on Thursday night.

On a plane from Denver to Charlotte following the Democrats' convention, I found myself seated behind former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina. Their conversation was interesting to say the least.

For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her "Dan Quayle" on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as "just terrible." They both agreed that, "Other than the simple fact that she's a female," she has nothing to offer.

Then there was this gem of a moment from Fowler:

4. They were dumbasses.
On the other hand, there are real questions about the legality of this video being taken and displayed, especially in light of the lawsuit bu Gingrich, et al., over the cellphone tapes.

A thorny issue.

I can say that Don Fowler may have well been in the game too long, to do something like this in public.

2. I promise never to vote for John Spratt or Don Fowler
which will be easy since I don't live in South Carolina.

6. Flame me all you want but
people, all people including DUers, say things privately among kindred folks that they wouldn't broadcast, ever.

I live in SC; Fowler (former DNC co-chair with Chris Dodd; husband of state chair Carol Fowler) and Spratt (a Congressman) are among the few good guys here. This is a violation of thier privacy. Yes, they both should have exercised more caution on an airplane where they could be overheard, but for their conversation to be taped and broadcast says a lot about the youtuber! They were talking to each other, privately they thought, and they are totally unlike the wingnuts who spew their sewage daily on our airwaves.

9. They probably shouldn't have said what they said...
It's sad to use the possible misery of others to make yourself feel better. It doesn't really look good and it comes across as mean.

10. absolutely, it is sad
but I don't think they truly want NO and the Gulf Coast to suffer any MORE misery. I think, as some of us here have said before being chastised, that the repukes evil wishes for the Dem convention backfired on them.

I still think the videographer/taper crossed a line.

16. Oh, please
"A violation of their privacy"??? Was Larry Craig's privacy violated in that airport bathroom? Was Ted Haggard's privacy violated by the male prostitute/meth provider? You're essentially saying that it's perfectly fine to have bigoted, ignorant, hateful, racist, sexist, or homophobic views and beliefs, as long as nobody knows you have them or hears you talking about them. The important thing is to put on a happy face for public consumption, right?

Were you as upset about "violations of privacy" when various backroom White House discussions between Bush and his cabal were leaked? Probably not, but I'm sure that's different :eyes:

18. spare me such crap
soliciting sex from an undercover cop is a far cry from a stranger taping a conversation between two other people on a plane...

A bigoted homophobe's whore going public about his same bigoted homophobe lover's hypocrisy, i.e sharing his story, is a far cry from a stranger taping a conversation between two other people on a plane...

Leaks from insiders (key word being insider because they are part of the fucking cabal) at the White House are a far cry from a stranger taping a conversation between two other people on a plane...

If you can't see the difference, then there is something WRONG with YOU!

19. so the fuck what
that doesn't make the 'youtuber' right.

If I taped a conversation between my boss and me without his consent, it would be against the law.

Spare me this politically correct crap. No one wishes ill on NO or the Gulf Coast, the comments where simply akin to: "ha, ha the repukes evil backfired on THEM for a fucking change!"

If this were two Repubs caught in exactly the same stupid situation I seriously doubt you would feel the same way.

These guys were idiots to do what they did where they did it.

Personally I'm glad they got caught.

24. yes, I would
But we already have to put of with their crap on the airwaves, broadcast everywhere daily!!!

People like you want to hang these guys for a private conversation... as if you've never said something privately that you would never say in public or write on DU.

Oh puhleeze yourself!

25. I'm not a politician
And I don't say really objectionable stuff in public places where there is an excellent chance of being overheard.

In fact I think one hell of a lot of stuff that I never say to anyone, which is why I don't drink, because it makes me say things I'm thinking that I never would utter if I was sober.

The whole point of this is that it wasn't a "private conversation".

The walls have ears and any politician that doesn't know that at this late date should get out of the biz.

I repeat, I'm glad these morons got caught.

And I still think you would be gloating if it was a couple of Repubs that got caught doing something just as stupid.

Edited to add:

I'm glad they got caught, it was an incredibly stupid thing to say anywhere there is the slightest chance of being overheard.

Maybe this will learn some of the other politicians not to run their mouths about stupid crap they shouldn't be saying in the first place.

14. There are no private moments in public anymore
Everyone has cameras. The cops, the shops, the guy in the seat next to you. The guy in the highrise a mile away from you. Someone's always taking pictures.

Dems, don't give the other side any macaca moments.
